Trainers vs sneakers kya hai...

There was discussion about American English versus British English for using the terminology of Sneakers versus Trainers respectively.

However, that day, I learnt they actually have some differences even outside of the naming terminology.

Hence the term sneaker head in North America.

Where as in India, I guess due to colonial times and British influence more commonly referred to as trainers.
