I thought I wouldn't like it but I found it interesting
It is one of the best shows of the recent times. Layered, has enough drama and nuanced relationships.
Batwoman S1
I don't understand why some people hate the show. I think was a great new addition to the Arrowverse. It brought the darkness and moral complexity of Batman to the lightness, humor, and world-building of the Arrowverse.
I know Ruby Rose is a mediocre actor. But those perfect cheekbones and that smile, the caped crusader has never been sexier. *drool*
But the highlight of the show is Rachel Skarsten as Alice. I've been a fan since she played Tamsin the Valkyrie in Lost Girl. I know people love and revere the Joker as one of the greatest villains of all times, but Alice is far more diabolical, twisted, and unpredictable than the Joker. Her origin story is far more richer and complex as well.
The narrative is definitely slower and pensive compared to The Flash or Supergirl which are more fast-paced, thrilling, and exciting. But it doesn't hit the bar set by Nolan's trilogy either - which might turn some people off. I found the cat and mouse game between Alice and Kate Kane to be intriguing.
However, if it is lesbian content that bothers folks - then yeah - the show is SUPER GAY. The lesbian love triangle between Kate Kane, Julie Pennyworth, and Sophie Moore had me burning up. Which is why I am bummed that Ruby Rose was fired and does not return for Season 2. It is like being taken to the edge in anticipation with no resolution. I am glad that they still kept the show SUPER GAY. Maybe there is still something to look forward to.
Rumble.. Loved it ❤️
Monsters at work... Another entertainer from Monsters, Inc. franchise ❤️
Se7en- I’d already seen bits from this movie and I already knew what was in the box, yet the movie was interesting. Great one.
The Flash S6
Most shows in the Arrowverse have followed a traditional storytelling arc. One seasonal big bad interspersed with several monster of the week events. At times that can be exhausting stretching a villain's arc beyond necessary.
In S6 Flash showrunners tried to change it up with a graphic novel approach. 6-8 episode arcs that switch over to a new villain or plot.
Personally, I found it jarring. It was weird to have one villain resolved before pre-crisis and start anew post-crisis. The COVID abrupted short unresolved second half didn't help either.
But it was good to see Caitlyn Snow and Iris West get some character development. Although, Ralph Dibny continues to be annoying.
83
I was an infant when India won the world cup. This movie was the perfect way to be able to experience what that thrill might have been. Kabir Khan uses an interesting narrative technique interspersing the film with actual footage from events. Some games unfold quickly - but some games are like a replay of actually being there.
I was totally crying at the end. 83 is a prime example of a sports underdog story beautifully retold. It made me nostalgic for the good old days of watching cricket with family and friends. When we visited my grandmother's village only one house on the street had a color TV. I remember walking down to go there during matches - watching, celebrating, mourning, agonizing, with a bunch of strangers as if we had been BFFs for life.
Usually, I loathe Ranveer Singh. But he's charming as Kapil Dev. There is something endearing and lovable about Kapil's broken English. Mohinder Amarnath seems to have had a blast playing dad Lala. All the actors did a great job emulating the players they were representing. It was cute that sons of 83 players were cast in roles. Deepika was unnecessary though. But I guess her scenes during the finals cover the gamut of emotions felt while watching a game.
