What weird names they have given to their kids 😳😂

I know at least two people who changed their names after becoming adults (tiring process) when their parents named them with not-so-conventional names or spelling. To make it peculiar I guess, but became an inconvenience, made confusion, or a reason for mockery.

I read about people naming their child "Abcde" pronounced “Ab-city”. 😲

Why would anybody intentionally do that to their child and set them up for ridicule?
