Yes, even in places like Borivali and Bhayander, multiplexes have increased shows as late at 11:30 pm and these are not densely populated areas like within the city limits. I really hope Maharashtra Govt takes off the 50% capacity rule as soon as possible because people are just not able to get tickets. I don't care if it's Alia or Kangana or anyone, my biggest relief is that even with 50% occupancy people are finally coming back to theatres and we are finally getting back to normalcy. Because just two years ago it just felt as if these days will never come back and theatres will close and everything is going to be over. This is a huge boost for all cinema lovers who love watching movies in theatres ❤️
Umm. 83 released on 24th December. Forget India, it wasn’t a Holiday in US even.

The movie doesn't have to release on 25th to be called a Christmas release. Dangal, Simmba, Tiger Zinda Hai were all Christmas releases and neither of them released on 25th. In India christmas vacations fall much earlier than 25th so usually they are considered Holiday releases and people throng much earlier than Christmas since kids have their vacations going on. Infact last year Christmas was amidst the second wave and offices weren't open so it was almost a holiday around metro cities in India which was 83's target audience.

I live in US and I had to wait till the evening to watch the movie and I WFH. WFH doesn’t mean it’s a holiday. School children who have the Christmas vacation weren’t the target audience for 83, no? For them there was the Spiderman which released just around the corner, Why would they watch 83?

are you for real?
when 25th is off..many will go for late night shows on 24th..hence adding to 1st day total..
that is how you benefit from holidays..plus many places in the west have an entire week off from 23rd till new years

Yes I am absolutely for real. Thank you for getting personal!
Late night shows weren’t happening because we were in the midst of the Omicron at that time, remember?
In west/overseas, 83 had a record BO collection on the first day and overall for 2021, even more than Sooryavanshi etc. because here the theaters were running at their full capacity like normal.
So I finally saw the movie a few weeks ago to see what I was missing since y'all sold me her performance as some breath taking acting and......

What makes the film unforgettable isn’t just the grand frames, the haunting music, or the storytelling SLB is known for. It’s the beating heart...
I did not realise it while watching the film but this is so true, she is channeling Gangubai here...
