Gangubai Kathiawadi Does Well On The First Day

Gangubai Kathiawadi has done well on the first day with collections likely to come in the 9.50-10 crore nett range as the film scores well in Mumbai circuit. The first day collections in Mumbai circuit could match 83 or go higher which was a far bigger film. It will depend on where the smaller centres in Maharashtra land in the morning.

Generally other places like CP Berar and CI have decent collections for a female orientated film. The South has big films so those areas are affected a little and its mainly Nizam / Andhra as Tamil Nadu hardly matters for Hindi films. Nizam / Andhra will also eventually come around if the film is liked in that marked.

There is an outside chance of the film to hit the10 crore nett mark as it has released on around 2150 sites and around 3500 screens which is a release on par with Sooryavanshi. But its likely the collections from smaller centres are going to limited which will keep it below 10 crore nett.

Its a solid start for the film and its likely to be the second highest opener for a film driven by a female star which is a huge result for the industry that a film like this can collect near 10 crore nett so quickly after the pandemic. The film had a fair trailer but the music did not take off and still these numbers have come confirming Alia Bhatt is easily the top female star today.

The film is also doing good numbers in overseas with both US and UK looking set for a good weekend going by early figures. The HIT word has become practically invisible for the film industry with one disaster after another and maybe this film can bring back that HIT word though time will tell. Irrespective of that the initial of Gangubai Kathiawadi is good news for the film industry and after Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty its Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali who have given a confidence booster to the industry.

Hindi version of Pushpa opened at 3.3 Cr on Day 1. Gangubai is a hindi film.

You don't even have an idea about the box office of Pushpa. You just googled and posted the first result that came in the search. The worldwide collection of Pushpa on Day 1 is at around 38 Cr. This includes the film playing in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka which were showing films at 100% occupancy when Pushpa released unlike a Bollywood film whose biggest market is New Delhi+ Maharashtra which is still playing at 50% occupancy.
