10 yrs back, I didn't know all these. I started taking a keen interest in creative writing, screenplay, movie making etc. I keep watching interviews, behind the scenes etc. So I learned more about films in that manner. Ended up watching movies and series across the world. Korean, Italian, Spanish, French ... Watched so many series of those languages too, thanks to Netflix, Prime etc. So my eyes and ears are very attentive when watching series or movies
I am of the same age as Nakul. That's why BALH 2 interested me with the concept. 10 years back I only watched IPKKND, but was really invested in the complete story. The direction was impeccable but as it happens in ITV, everything goes down the drain. When you see shows from across the world, you learn how tightly scripted their shows are. Which is very lacking in ITV. But when I watched the early episodes one day, I was hooked with the direction, the literary devices, setting, playing with the scenes. Like in the hotel, when Ram saw V, and Pri was "ho kya raha hai" and rushed to Ram and she turned herself came in between Ram and V and faced Ram. WOW. now that you call direction. [They basically told the whole story there].
Also as @TheCooldoc said, in the scene on the road, when she took the auto and he came and said "he wants to reach home", that was metaphoric.
More than the leads, it is the direction, screenplay, symbolisms, metaphors, etc. attracts me to a serial. This is why I started watching. Came back to IF just to discuss and let out my thoughts so I can be sane in my real life.
