yes ML had 2 versions and i watched both just to decipher the theories and how and why the changes in both versions had to be there...anf then discussed in detail on forums sacrificing my sleep... cause LJK is ❤️my forever #1 oppa and will always be... he is the best thing i found thru my kdrama love.

What a series, it's like Shakespeare's story, no one gets a happy ending..

My heart breaks for Wang So much suffering, pain and torture, desperate for a scrape of love and care and at the end all leave him and he is alone.

Heck they seperated even Beak-ah from So..

i knew it.. and i had been thru the heartbreak💔

never watched this show ever again knowing it will break my heart into pieces all ovet again.

Wang So is the ❤ and seeing him all alone at last was just tooo much to handle 😭

It was like all in vain..

When I thought of watching it I thought what can be worse he or she can die i can mangae that 🙂

But it's like worst of all, seperation/death/ seperation through time and space..

He finally did became the Gwangjong she feared coz she left him on his own..

I want to feel sorry for Soo but it's sadist me who think that she deserve the ending on account of how she left him.

i still hav to recall how and why she left him as its been so long i watched.. but what little i remember is it wasnt intentional but surely needed for him to be what was destined for him...

this drama was all abt Wang So and his journey to become the greatest king korea ever had and there could never be any other actor than Lee Ju Gi to portray those variety of emotions as Wang So on screen...

i always loved him in all his past shows but SHR was my most fav of him and that made me his fan girl.

believe me i still cant muster up courage to watch this show 2nd time...i just cant...💔

LJK will be forever HwangJanim for me. He is Wang So, nobody else would have done it otherwise. There were so many shades of him that I lost counting.

It's sad that drama didn't do well in Korea..

LJK in Kdrama is what Aamir Khan in bollywood.. he takes one drama a year (even more than one year to get to the drama he likes/wants to do) also he takes less conventional roles roles which arent for mass audience (for younger generation or for TRP audience) he takes where he feels he can portray his bestest of acting/action/emotions... which arent the typical kdramas so thats the whole thing.

If you try to dig some past interviews abt SHR... he did mention why he took that show cause it was always Wang So that made him realize he can show his best things while portraying Wang So and thats how he chooses dramas... to portray the characters which are multi dimensional/layers and with more depth that will help him get better as an actor.

for LDW... he had some of the greatest dramas to start his career or you can say he got his breakthrough drama very early in his career (My Girl) with same if for Gong Yoo (Coffee Prince was his breakthrough drama) so it all depends when one actor gets to his breakthrough role to ride the wave of fandom... and when you say younger generation.. LDW and GY arent now for that generation anymore they are for the older ladies (35+) which were younger when those dramas aired. but yes younger generation is also in love with them but only if they start their initial dramas. their current roles are more of mature Men than heart throbes.

currently.. heart throbes are Song Kang, Cha Eun Woo, Nam Joo Hyuk, Bae In Hyuk and many more.

So even LJK got SHR as his breakthru drama (for worldwide audience) his local breakthru drama is yet to be there though Arang was great but it wasnt THAT great.

Lastly.. SHR not doing well in korea... i am getting in touch with my frends to figure out what went wrong then as i myself cant recall....so ill try to share whenever i'll get it.

regarding breakthrough Dramas...

check online material about Start up and how it gave well deserved attention and love to Kim Seon Ho for his Portrayal of Han Ji Pyeong (this is most recent and biggest example of it)

Reply 1994 to Yoo Yeon Seok (YYS had such a troublesome life, he worked hard for 10 years before getting R94 and this drama changed his whole life)

DoTs to Song Joon Ki,

Stil 17 to Shin Hye Sun,

BoF yo Lee Min Ho,

Kill Me Heal me to Ji Sung,

All actors do sooo much acting wise but its always the luck which one will become breakthrough drama for them to get more eyes, attention and love from fans.

So he is the actor of the classes unlike masses. Suits him well. I have seen his whole bio. His drama choices seems to be more action oriented and as you said he can portray his abilities to the max.

Sure he hasn't done any romcom which is the most popular genre in SK. I am sure if it were for Hollywood he would have his own fast and furious kind of franchise . He even doesn't do films after a few. He clearly is a film actor.

I read something about him being blacklisted for the amount of years in which he chose best what offered for him. It feels such a waste of so much talent.

About GY and LDW I mean they are popular with new generation coz Goblin was raging hit. Coz of that I watched Bad and Crazy.

I hope LJKs next drama brings him more success.
