He was a captain. But, captains can also be released from the franchise and go into the pool for auction next time.

Delhi Capitals picked him for a much lower price than expected. He was expected to get up to 20crore but got only 6.25crore.

Could be possible, even KL Rahul requested Punjab to not retain him.
