The second game of the three-match ODI series between India and the West Indies will be played today at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India leads the series 1-0 and will look to seal off things today.

India registered a convincing victory in the first ODI. India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss, opted to bowl first and the decision paid off. West Indies batters couldn't get going and Jason Holder was their lone fighter. He scored a fifty, but lacked support from the other end as the Windies were knocked over on 176. Yazvendra Chahal picked up four wickets and Washington Sundar finished with three.

It was an overall good performance by our team.

Rohit Sharma led the charge with the bat, scoring 60 runs. There was a mini-collapse, but Suryakumar Yadav and debutante Deepak Hooda put up a solid stand to guide their side across the line. India chased down the total in 28 overs with six wickets in hand.

Team India looked good in all departments, despite missing out on some players due to Covid-19. They will be hoping to carry forward the winning momentum.

West Indies need to be at their best on today to keep the series alive.

The pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium is a balanced track. The new ball comes nicely onto the bat and the batters can play their strokes freely. However, the surface tends to slow down a bit, assisting spinners from both sides. The spinners will continue to play a major role on this surface.

The bowlers did brilliantly as they knocked over West Indies on 176. Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar finished with four and three wickets respectively. Rohit Sharam scored 60 at the top of the order and a good partnership between Suryakumar Yadav (34*) and Deepak Hooda (26*) helped them chase down the total.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has scores of 34*, 39, 40, 53 & 31* in his 5 career ODIs so far which are not big scores, but good enough for him to be part of the winning team more often than not.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has a good record against West Indies having taken 12 wickets in just 6 matches against them with never being wicketless in a match.

Alzarri Joseph

Alzarri Joseph has taken 18 wickets in his last 11 ODI matches with being wicketless only once and thus has been very consistent with the ball.

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna has played only 5 ODIs (all inside a year) and in these, he has taken 2, 3, 0, 2 & 4 wickets respectively which goes to show that he is very consistent.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, who led the team in the 50-over format for the first time as the permanent captain scored a half-century.

Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded Man of the Match for taking four wickets with the ball which included the dismissal of West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard for a duck. He completed 100 wickets in ODI cricket in the process and became the fifth fastest Indian to do the same. Washington Sundar took three wickets on his international comeback.

For West Indies, Alzarri Joseph's two-wicket haul with the ball and Jason Holder's fighting half-century with the bat were the only positives. After suffering a humiliating series defeat at home to Ireland in their last series in the ODI format, Pollard's men will look to ensure they do not go down in this series without a fight.

Ishan Kishan, who opened with Rohit in the first ODI did a decent job with a 36-ball 28 and both Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav also did well to finish the game for India. If Rahul plays, then either of the three among Kishan, Deepak Hooda, and Suryakumar would have to sit out to accommodate him as Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma are certain to play.
