This seems to be the trajectory for all girls who read: enid blyton.. Starting from those cute toy stories, then famous five, secret seven, mallory towers etc. on to nancy drew, hardy boys and then heavier books like the popular classics or just contemporary works of various genres based on each one's preference.

I kind of have to disagree. I haven't honestly read famous five at all. Read few books of secret seven. I have no idea of Mallory towers or Nancy Drew books.

I started with regional literature. Lol, I am not boasting but I read Maxim Gorky's "Mother" in 4th standard and I understood nothing. 😆

I think my childhood reading was mostly Charles Dickens and it evolved from there. And a lot of regional literature and mythology books.

Hey here's an idea - let's suggest books for the characters!

My recommendations:

Akshara - A room of one's own

Arohi - My experiments with truth

Abhimanyu - Lolita (kidding! Kidding!) The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Papa Birla - Fathers and sons

Manjari - Twelve years a slave

Bade Papa - King Lear

Kairav - Invisible Man

Vansh - Charlie and the chocolate factory

Neil - David Copperfield

Akshara - Pollyanna 😛

Abhimanyu - 50 Shades of Grey😆😈
