Rahul was attracted to THAT type of looks. Anjali was the complete opposite in how she behaved and presented herself. Rahul was NOT attracted to that. As humans, it’s not just the physical features that draws our attention but also how they present themselves overall.
The argument itself makes no sense because Rahul had every right to feel attracted to whomever he deems desirable. Why is it such a big deal that he wasn’t interested in a tomboy? Why is anyones preference in what they find attractive/unattractive even being questioned? We’ve all had friends who we never felt an attraction towards. Maybe their appearance or mannerisms wasn’t something we found appealing for a romantic partner. 10 years down the track things CAN change. People change. Their appearance can change. How they behave can change. Those changes can become more desirable in your eyes. You can start developing an attraction to this change. I swear I said the word change at least 100 times. 😂
Another point is that Rahul never knew Anjali loved him! The world is acting like Rahul rejected her love and broke her heart intentionally. He had no clue about her feelings and it’s not like Anjali was in love with him this whole time. She started looking at him in a different light when the words love is friendship TRIGGERED her. That was her trigger point in starting to look at Rahul as a man and not her best friend. Rahul’s TRIGGER point was when he saw her after 8 years looking feminine and therefore more sexually desirable to him. This forced him to look at Anjali as a woman and not his best friend.
Someone please tell me I’m making sense. 😭
More than that, people just may not find themselves attracted a particular person (for whatever reason it maybe). Even if Anjali was feminine looking during the college years, what is the guarantee Rahul would be into her? There were so many feminine girls in the college; was Rahul into all of them? So even if Anjali was like Rahul's type, there still is no guarantee that Rahul would be into her. You cannot force yourself to love someone or be attracted to someone. Love/attraction just happens. The way I see it, Rahul always saw Anjali as his best friend, as one of the 'guys' with whom he played basketball and whatnot. He just didn't view Anjali as his love interest. That feeling did not come to him naturally - now he can't force himself to love her, can he? In fact most people don't fall in love with their best friend for a reason - they feel a platonic attraction towards them and hence are repelled by the thought of romantic attraction with them.
So let's not blame Rahul for not loving Anjali. If that feeling does not come naturally, he can't force himself into it (and why should he, anyway?).
8 years down the lane, things changed. Anjali got more feminine, but there is nothing to suggest Rahul was the reason behind that. Rahul was lonely and in need of a partner. So when he saw Anjali, it rekindled some of his earlier emotions he had.
Him getting attracted to Anjali when her saree was blowing in the wind? Well that's what every straight guy would find himself attracted to. And trust me, physical attraction is a huge component of romantic love.
@ On topic: There's a lot of flaws and problematic things in KKHH. However this whole thing of "Rahul was into feminine girls" or "Rahul only liked Anjali when she wore saree" is ridiculous.
