I was hoping she would sing this one. Fantastic 👍
I was also hoping for Oi Daakchhe Aakaash but instead we got Apur Paayet Chhaap.

I like the fact that she is so free and owning the stage today! It is a new Arunita for me and one that augers well for her future shows!
I think she has been waiting for a very long time to have a concert in WB when others like Ashish and Anushka have already had. Her happiness and excitement were evident.
Arunita's intro in Ghatal (he missed saregamapa lil champs hindi)

Yesterday's show at Ghatal seemed much less structured in terms of song selection and stage time than the usual fare dished out by the Talent Team managed events. This one was hiring of only the singers - not Talent Team brass and Sony branding. Maybe that meant that they could sing any song, not Sony licensed songs only.
I thought it made the performances come alive as the performers had a free hand and became part of the ambience.
Good crowd too! That helps in building atmosphere!
And good live video with good streaming.

But that did lead to occassional hiccups such as those times when Pawandeep decided to do a mini-Danish and introduce some aalaap while Arunita was going the regular way. She is seasoned enough to instantaneously stop and rejoin when he comes back on track but that did create some moments of discord in the overall feel.
And yes clearly the organizers hadn't planned for the sequence and duration.
At around the 30 minutes mark PD got some indication from the front and he stopped and went off - something to do with crowd becoming restless. "Uttejit hole hobe na" - "it will not do if you all get so excited" - is what the MC came and announced. And then he had to go to left of the stage and promise "eikhaane niye aashbo" - "I will bring her here". Then PD did the next hour or so as a band member and back up vocalist for Arunita 😄 before resuming his solos.
Towards the end we could again see the orgnizers come on stage to talk about time remaining - one man was even pointing to his wristwatch 😄
So... Yeah. A little bit of realism added to the small town feel of this. Kudos to both Pawandeep and Arunita for not throwing tantrums or showing any visible signs of unhappiness or hurt egos. Especially Pawandeep who was literally stopped mid-sentemce. Perhaps their own small town upbringing helps them understand these snafus are a part of life.

I have been to some of these type of shows in semi-urban Bengal. Mayhem is the rule. This one was completely well managed in contrast with some stuff I have been through. Bengal rural crowds are completely unmanageable and can even stop a show if they don't like what is going on. There is a night-time restriction in place - which means that open-air shows cannot go on beyond 11pm. Otherwise it is difficult to close these nights, especially if the music is good or the spirits are high.
Yes, there were plenty of hiccups, but it never seemed out of control. That is always a fear.
PD has tons of experience so no issues for him. Arunita actually handled herself very well and that really helped.
Overall I got the feel that the singers were enjoying themselves.
I really enjoyed this one! 😃

I guess that is true for all semi urban India 🙂
I agree Arunita handled things very well. She has a very level head and is a very quick learner, evidently.
And I agree also that they were enjoying themselves. One particular incident that comes to mind is when Arunita was singing that Bengali song about not leaving your loved one but keeping them close, and Pawandeep suddenly introduced funny lines about some magic cycle or something that doesn't need petrol and diesel. That took Arunita by surprise and made her laugh a lot
