The sun rises but the new day feels as heavy as a mountain to Raavi! She is still lying on the floor, numb! She doesn't want to get up, doesn't want hear any sound, doesn't want to see anything, and certainly doesn't want to speak to anyone. Prafulla knocks on the door but Raavi doesn't respond. After a while, the knocking and yelling stops. Raavi feels like the walls of the room are closing in on her and wants to run far away from this place. She gets up and goes to the bathroom, gets ready, and leaves the house without being noticed. She doesn't know where she's going but her feet are moving and she doesn't stop!
Shiva gets out of his cot and stares towards the kitchen door. Until yesterday morning, he was waking up to the sight of Raavi working in the kitchen. But today the kitchen feels just as empty as his heart. He reluctantly gets up and goes to the bathroom to get ready. When he comes out, he instinctively turns towards his room where he and Raavi used to stand in front of the mirror and get ready together. Seeing the door closed now, his heart shuts its doors, too. Just then Dhara comes with a tray full of breakfast and tea and asks him to join with a smile.
She walks to him and hugs him and assures him says, "Mera baccha! Sab theek ho jaaega! Tu fikar matt kar."
Shiva is surprised knowing that Dhara is not mad at him and says, "Bhabhi kal woh .. Raavi .."
Dhara cups his face and says, "Raavi aa jaaegi wapis! Woh humse zyaada din dur nahi reh sakti! Peechali baar bhi toh aa gai thi na woh. Tu chinta matt kar! Aaja, naashta kar le!"
Hearing Dhara reiterate what she had said in his imagination the night before shocks Shiva. Raavi's outburst plays in his ears and his actions at the hospital play in front of his eyes. His mind starts spiraling out of control as he walks out of the house. He doesn't know where he's going but his feet are moving and he doesn't stop.
Raavi reaches the Somnath temple and goes inside. She doesn't go all the way to the alter as she feels like He has abandoned her, too. Instead, she goes towards the steps that face the ocean and sits down. She tries hard to drown out the fight that broke at the hospital between her and Shiva but she fails. Even the thundering waves of the ocean are not enough to silence the noise in her heart. She keeps flashing back to the moment Shiva had become out of control. His violent outburst shook her to the core so much that even now, when she thinks about it, she can feel every vibration. She has known Shiva, his anger, his stubbornness, and his hatred since childhood, she thinks, but he never lost control like the way he did at the hospital. As she contemplates what changed in his life to make him react so violently, she sees an old couple walking at the beach holding hands. The old lady, though in her 70s, is blushing like a newlywed. Raavi looks at them and remembers the time when Shiva wrapped her dupatta around her shoulders; she remembers the time when Shiva pretended to be hurt just to be close to her; she remembers the time when he wiped her tears and lost himself in her eyes; she remember the time he kissed her. She closes her eyes trying to savor the closeness one more time hoping that this is just a nightmare and when she'll open her eyes, her Bhootnaath will be right there holding her close. When she opens her eyes, however, she is all alone. Tears start rolling down her eyes as her heart longs for Shiva.
Shiva continues walking without any direction in mind. He keeps playing the events of the day before on a loop. He thinks about how the day had started. He had imagined Raavi at the store in the morning. He remembers how it felt to be so close to her; he remembers the time when he taught her to ride a bike and how good it felt to sit so close to her, touching the smooth skin of her arms and smelling the wonderful flowery fragrance coming from her hair; he remembers the time when he accidently snatched her dupatta and how shy she felt and the way she shivered when he wrapped the dupatta around her shoulders; he remembers the time when she lost herself in him closing her eyes when he put his hands on her waist and the way she stood so close to him, gently caressing his face and trying to ease the pain in his eyes; he remembers the time he almost lost her at that cliff making him realize how much he loved her; he remembers how soothing it felt to his own heart when he had kissed her. He stops and sits on a rock under a nearby tree and closes his eyes to savor the closeness one more time hoping that when he opens his eyes, she'll be right there by his side. But when he opens his eyes, he is sitting alone on the side of a road longing for his Chipkali.
Raavi is lost in Shiva's thoughts with tears still in her eyes when the old woman comes and sits next to her.
"Yaad aa rahi hai uski?" the old lady asks startling Raavi.
"Kiski?" Raavi asks in return quickly wiping her tears.
The old lady smiles and asks, "Woh hi jo tumhaare dil mein aakar tumhaari aankho se chalak raha hai?"
Raavi gets teary eyed again and looks away trying to hide the pain. The old woman pats her shoulder and asks, "Boyfriend hai ya husband?"
Raavi chuckles at the upfront questioning and replies, "Husband!"
"Jhagda hua hai?" The old woman asks.
Raavi silently nods.
"Bas itani si baat pe itane saare aansu?" the old woman says and chuckles.
Raavi sadly replies, "Itani si baat nahi hai! Iss baar bohot badi baat hai! Pata nahi iss baar sab kaise handle karungi!"
"Tu pyaar karti hai uss se?" the old woman asks.
Raavi looks at her for a second and nods in agreement.
The old woman smiles and says, "Toh bas apne dil ko apna kaam karne de! Woh tujhe haarne nahi dega!"
"Par kaise? Iss baar Shiva ki galati ko mein nazarandaaz nahi kar sakti!" Raavi says angry and sad.
"Usne tujhe dhoka diya?" the old woman asks with concern and adds, "Kisi aur ladki ke saath ..."
"Nahi aunty! Bilkul nahi! Mere Bandar ko dhoka dena nahi aata!" Raavi replies defensively.
The old lady sighs and smiles again and says, "Jis tarah se apne Bandar ki waqaalat kar rahi hai na tu, uss se saaf pata chalta hai ki tere dil ne usse handle karne ka faisla pehle hi kar liya hai!"
Just then her husband returns with some water and sits next to her. The old lady holds her husband's hand lovingly and says, "40 saal ho gaye hamaari shaadi ko! Humne bhi bohot si ladaaiyan ki hai! Tere uncle ne bhi dher saari galtiyaan ki hai aur ek-aadhi galti mujhse bhi hui hogi ..." aunty says teasing uncle and adds, "lekin woh pyaar hi kya jo galtiyaan hone pe saath chod de?"
Seeing Raavi confused, aunty gently caresses her head and says, "Agar tu sach mein apne Bandar se pyaar karti hai na toh usse uski galati ki saza dene se pehle ek baar yeh toh samjha k woh galat kyun hai? Ek baar uski baat sunn, usse samajh, aur usse apni galati sudhaarne ka ek mauka de!"
Raavi looks at aunty and feels like this stranger understands her more than her own family. She can't control herself and hugs aunty. To her relief, anunty hugs her just as tightly as if Raavi is her own and kisses her forehead.
Uncle pats Raavi's head, too, and says, "Rishte mein ladaai zaruri hoti hai beta! Kyun ki insaan ladta bhi toh unhi se hi hai jinse usse pyaar hota hai! Bas har ladaai ke baad ek dusre se baat karna matt bhulna! Ek dusre ko apne mann ki baat bataao aur ek dusre ke mann ki baat suno! Waise bhi, mann ki baat mann mein rakhne se uss pe interest nahi milta!"
Raavi smiles and nods and takes their blessings. The old couple blesses her and leaves giving Raavi a lesson she will carry in her heart forever.
