I just read the plot on Wikipedia. Talk about pining for your childhood love till the very end. đŸȘ”đŸ˜

These are movies from the YRF, Chopra Films and Dharma camps. And those written by Salim- Javed. Javed Akhtar at least separated from Salim because he wanted to stop making such movies.

None of the movies made by Gulzar, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Sai Paranjpe were like this at all!!!

The fact is this kind of male centric, female doormat shyte has been put down our throats every generation. Unfortunately the former have more of their children making movies than the latter.

My favourite Yash Raj heroine was Parveen Babi from Kaala Pattar. She was a really different character for that time line and looked gorgeous throughout the movie.

I watched Chandni and realized dahck the woman is taking care of you on a wheelchair and you decide for her, Tu hai Kaun?!?! Let her decide for herself,

Worse yet, he gets out of the wheelchair and she goes back to him, why because her half decent boss sacrificed her

Dude, in the movie, Rishi Kapoor stops Chandni from speaking up when his mom and sister behave rudely to her,
.like awfulness!!!
inn sab mei Chandni kya chahti hai?!?

this is exactly the same in every movie from those two camps - doormat women

For all of Mahesh Bhatt’s otherwise questionable behavior, one thing you can’t take away from his movies - even the most trite ones like DHKM where Pooja Bhatt is childish - but her character has her say- to of course the superb Arth - where the female character mike drops!

PS:: So so sorry post was about Kabhi Kabhi and I went on my rant, but as you can see, it was bottled up for awhile. Sarieforwordvomit!

Arey no problem at all! It's not I am having serious discussion here. But my confusion was serious. I am questioning my younger self for not questioning these movies and loving them!!!

And also how did they fall in love just in one jhalak??? Without even talking! Sometimes if you interact one time there is spark ..which is understandable like in chashme baddor between dipti naval and Farook sheikh. But in chandni rishikesh was simply harassing her and she was loving it!! WHAT THE HELL!!!

I LOVE Arth!! And some other Mahesh bhatt movies. I dont care if they are "inspired".

On a separate note...i was a truly innocent and naive girl. When I got married I was thinking how would I know I am pregnant or just having indigestion! Because in movies actresses would just say "wak"and aunties would say badhai ho and call doctors! I was like how would I know I am pregnant or just burping!! Then I got pregnant and how i knew the difference! Threw up for 4 months straight..movies made me delusional 🙄 😁

They saw each other once at least!!!

As a child I watched one movie with my mum
in that the hero just sees the heroine’s eyes through a burkha and falls in love!!! Sings a song for her 😆

Then he hears the same song from a neighbor’s house and assumes the neighbor is the woman

Bakwaas movie

Don’t even get me started on the harassing the girl shyte. I was shocked at how my bhabhi said everyone went gaga over rishi kapoor holding her hand and forcing her to say haan ya naa.. I was like whaaa?!?!
If you look closely at the scene in DDLJ after kajol and Raj get on the train, (the whole getting on the train is cute, which is now repeated in every dharma movie - Jaise ladki ko train time pe chadhna aata hi nahi, anyways it still remains cute) I am speaking of him grabbing a bra from her open suitcase and eerily laughing, then while she is reading a book sitting in a corner, he literally putting her head between her legs
dude dahck was that?!?! And no. No one did that, even in European Rail!!!!

Whereas in chamko scene of chasms badoor, they have built the guys’ characters so well already, you know he is a decent guy, who has never interacted with girls, so he gets awkward and cute and then there is a spark because she sees the naked girl poster, turns away and he covers it with his towel. it’s beautiful. And no it’s not old fashioned, it’s a way of showing a decent guy.

This line of decency was crossed by most Dharma and YRF movies, and the result is today we went from there to Kabir Singh!!

Yaar, you have lit a match only in me!!! 😳

So true about DDLJ..I was cringing so much when I was rewatching it. I mean stop it dude!! These actually normalized harrassment ...unfortunately where gali ka Luanda thinks snatching dupatta is romantic..smh.

And I love that chamko scene..I love those kind of movies so much. Decency is not backdated. Sometimes I want to revisit my favorite movies with my kids just to become nostalgic but it makes me question how I grew up watching these movies and thinking them as normal.

But one movie we all love to watch repeatedly...which is Andaz apna apna. They love it and laughs uncontrollably.
