I'm so selective when I watch PTV dramas because they do have some really good stuff. The only show I'm watching right now is Dobara and it's a highly progressive drama.

I haven't seen a good romance genre drama in a long time unfortunately.

I am watching random episodes of MHRW and was watching the tracker episode. In that Raghav even though he puts a tracker in pallavi's bag - there is a dialogue where he says sorry, I am doing this to you. I am so glad that MHRW creatives really sketched Raghav's character this solid. That was the reason why this show clicked with the audience that strongly.

You know Sharada while Raghav placed the tracker and a lot of the forum members were riled up and all, i saw where that came from. The action came from a place of deep concern, he knew Mandar's true intention and Pallavi's innate goodness. He knew he wasn't able to reach Pallavi a day prior because Mandar switched off her phone.

How was he to reach her if something bad were to happen. There were reasons he placed the tracker on Pallavi and it was not because he didn't trust her (not at all). I didn't find that as an invasion of privacy because he just wanted her to be safe, that's it. This fanah thing is way too creepy. I remember there was a stalker like that in ishqbaaz as well. Gave me solid creeps. Actually the actor was himself kind of creepy, didn't give me good vibes.

Fria is super riled up with the concepts. Colors ke shows are way too regressive. Did y'all forget about VD wala show. He's also agressive with the female right? That's also him chasing her without her consent(?).

Fria in P tv a lot of the recent dramas are 2 siblings fighting over the same man which is regressive af. And just because it is allowed from a religious point of view doesn't make it right. I also hate all this scheming plotting against one's siblings (case in point udariyan or millions of ptv dramas). You don't go around trying to harm your own how much ever you hate them. It's bullshit. There was a time PTV had great dramas (may be a year ago). I used to watch atleast 4 dramas weekly but now I'm only watching dobara nothing else interests me and it's not that I'm not keeping tabs on new shows that are coming up but i don't want to watch shit.

Same. I used to watch PTV mostly for the romance dramas but anything I pick up I'm generally rolling my eyes at the repetitive and cliche storylines. I had stopped watching for a few years, went to kdramas + Itv. Now I picked some up again but not truly satisfied/fully entertained/immersed.

Right now I'm watching Amanat (starting off cliche but not bad but then went bad-cliche real quick) and Aye Musht e Khaak - mostly bc my mom hyped it up (I should've known better - she's a sucker for the reformed man trope) and now I just randomnly watch bc Feroze Khan's english has me DYINGGGGGGG. The tik toks on his character are HILARIOUS. I also secretly think she told me to watch to give me hints for how I should approach my future prospects 🤡🤡.

Your mom is super cute. Aye musht e khaaj is the hania Farhan one or the Feroze Sana Javed one? I think Sana javed right? I saw one scene with him and his gf in front of his wife and pledged it's not worth my time. I'm actually bored watching Feroze do the same kind of roles - khani ishqiya or khuda aur mohabbat. Amanat is getting trolled a lot right? How do you pick the dramas to be watched btw? Actually there are some hatke shows but the genre doesn't interest me - Parizaad, sinf e ahan, ho bichar gaye, Ishq e ilah.

So it's only dobara for me rn, if some new nice drama comes I'll watch.

I agree with you and Sharada - they maintained Raghav's good intentions - at the end of the day he was a husband trying to protect his wife, it had nothing to do with her, and everything to do with how dangerous he felt Mandaar was. I felt her reaction was a bit overblown and taken in the wrong direction with her dialogue (as they often did with Pallavi tbh).

Wait, what's the VD one ?? LOL.

The siblings thing is actually against Islamic law too. (I'm muslim) A man can't marry two sisters during the same time. But I know they've shown siblings fight over a man / woman in the sense of one sibling is an ex, the other is the present. I don't (won't) say the multiple marriage thing is wrong, from a religious standpoint, I won't ever say that personally. BUT I don't necessarily care for it/ like it /appreciate it, and most importantly I DO NOT want to see it in every SINGLE drama out there.

PTV has had this concept since wayyyyy back. I remember watching a drama with my mom as a kid, the guy was married to one sister, she had an accident and went missing/died, but they had a kid, so his and her family got the guy married to the younger sister so she could be a mother to the kid etc. Then when the younger sister gets pregnant herself, they find the older sister (she had amnesia). But back then they were much better at showing a more realistic approach to such a bizarre situation. The older sister tried to get back into her original role (w/o much malice), at the very least as a mother, the younger sister kind of stepped back, the older sister realized that she didn't fit in their family anymore and eventually left and let the younger sister have her husband and her kid and she went to live her new life. There wasn't as much scheming, plotting, etc., as they would definitely show now.

It's sad that every drama is the SAME concept. Marry/Engage to one, something happens, divorce/break up, marry another, first one comes back and tugs at the heart strings, confusion arises, the good option is always tortured until the last 20 min of the series where she (bc its usually 2 females and 1 male) finally gets her relief, and the options for the end are she ends up alone but happy with her kid or happy with her kid and spouse. It just depends on how badly the spouse messed up throughout the course of the show.

Fria coming to think of it Raghav didn't place a microphone or a video cam, he just placed a gps tracker and out of concern so it not once made me feel uncomfortable because we knew the circumstances. I agree with you that pallavi should have spoken to raghav to understand his reasons rather than take a hasty decision to leave her home. This was done for the oh so tasty tadka that Sicku loves. It was so ott and not in line with Pallavi's character and their over-all relationship dynamic at that point.

There is a new drama on colors with VD in it. It's losely based on Kabir Singh and tere naam where the guy chases the demure girl. I don't remember the name nor am I interested but the concept is similar. Chasing stalking and non consensual love story.

I'm aware that 2 sisters can't marry the same man at the same time and he needs to divorce one sister. I know this 2 marriage thing is allowed in Islam, i meant no offense i was strictly talking from a moral point of view. No other religion (afaik) allows polygamy so for the other parts of the world it just doesn't sit right. Also, it's unfortunate that the reasons why polygamy was allowed in Islam and the conditions around it are misused and thought of as a blanket approval. Human beings tend to bend rules to suit their own needs, nothing new.

Which show was that??? Its full of twists and turns. Yes but off late this sibling rivalry and 2 women fighting for a single man is a done to death trope in PTV as well as itv. It's sick like really sick. I wish people get more creative with story telling. In that I applaud hum tv because they try to get new concepts all other channels are regressive and only run behind numbers.

She really is. She's like," HE'S GOING TO CHANGE. HE HAS TO CHANGE. HER LOVE AND PRAYERS WILL CHANGE HIM"... and me, spotting all the red flags and knowing that I would avoid a man like him IRL, regardless of his wealth, am just like, "yeahhh.... it's ptv, they could just end up divorced and him alone atoning for his scheming" LOL. PTV is never a guaranteed happy ending. LOL Especially Feroze Khan dramas. I haven't watched all of them, but from what I've heard, he generally ends up alone 🤣. I don't think he's as great of an actor as some people hype him up to be? He's hot and he's ok at everything but angry man acting IMO. Watchable I guess.

How I pick dramas is directly correlated to how attractive I find the ML LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. #NoShame.

But I stick around for the plot /acting. I don't mind some cliche dramas, if they're done decently enough. But obviously, that's why I drop anything I pick up, bc they aren't anymore. Also if I enjoyed them in older dramas, then I'll watch again. Tbh idk who any of the new guys are, I'm quite out of the loop in terms of PTV and what's popular. My mom has been trying to get me to rewatch for years but I get tired of the repetitive plot. I only watched Amanat / Aye Musht e khaak bc i haven't watched any ptv in a long time and I like Imran Abbas & I thought Feroze Khan looked hot & I had nothing else to watch (no laptop so no turkish drama, no kdrama or itv dramas interesting me atm, and I was caught up with US shows). Literally. The only reasons 🤣

You are right Feroze has ended up alone in his last 3 dramas - Khaani, Khuda aur mohabbat (spoiler he dies), and Ishqiya. He's doing this same rich brat or angry young man trope. I don't understand his following either. I feel in ptv, Ahad, Usman, Bilal are very good. The drama quality has definitely gone down a lot because I used to watch only PTV dramas.

There's no shame in watching a show for a good looking face. I tend to watch for the storyline and acting as well but the concept needs to be interesting. Your mom is trying to get you hooked on PTV dramas at the wrong time. Trust me there's nothing remotely interesting right now. May be a few months down the line some new shows come up. This seems to be due to covid they are doing the tried and tested tropes. Also some times it helps that youtube has a 1.5x speed. A lot of slow dramas get watched at that speed buhahha.

No worries :) No offense taken!

Mormonism is the only other religion I think that allows it.

But yes its so misused nowadays and not done right at all IMO. Tbh even for most muslims, it doesn't sit right. The men in my family never once considered marrying a second wife etc. Even the one who's wife couldn't have children, he never considered marrying someone else. So I totally get it, it doesn't really sit well with me either even though its "acceptable" in my community (although its not, really esp for western muslims).

Tbh I think PTV relies so much on the whole cousins marriage, cousins love triangle, double marriage etc., is because in Islamic culture, you don't really date around, you don't really interact with non-mahram men/women for no reason, etc if you're trying to be practicing, etc. So they're trying to show the love stories but keep it within certain bounds.

Now everyone does what they want bc free will but I think they (PTV industry) try to toe that line of showing what they can but not going 'against' their norm religious practices. Even though their own society is not like that - most people, esp middle to upper middle class etc, tend to be more "liberal" in their practice than not. It's just like ITV where they tend to show more conservative stories or try to stay within certain boundaries and not cross certain lines for fear of backlash from their core audience which tends to be more conservative (at least in the minds of the CVs).

The thing is they used to be creative, so there was no need to resort to this type of story telling for almost EVERY drama. But I guess every industry becomes repetitive at one point or another.

I don't remember the drama name lol - I was so young back then hahaha. The older sister was a doctor? I feel like it was at least late 90s to early 00s.

Ahad is just ☺️👏 *chef's kiss*

Usman - I only ever watched him in the latest one he did with Ayeza Khan but while I liked his acting, and i love Ayeza Khan in general, I couldn't get into it. I didn't like her character and found her annoying LOL so I had to drop it.

I've never watched a Bilal drama (Bilal Khan?) - got any recs??

I used to watch Fawad Khan (who hasn't?), Shehryar Munawar, Zahid Ahmed dramas a lot. I'd at least give all of theirs a try / stick to them out of loyalty LOL.

LOLL 1.5x speed is the best. I tend to FF when I watch dramas. Ive realized (after having stopped watching PTV dramas fro a while), PTV actors really take a long time to deliver their lines. I forgot how more slow-paced their dramas and dialogue delivery was. I'm too impatient for it LOLOL.
