Every one have different likes and dislikes that's perfectly fine. But one thing all will agree in the history of Indian music directors ARR is only one who could win an Oscar/Grammy/BAFTA/Golden globe and academy awards for India. His achievements speak for itself in my opinion.
Iam not trying to convince you but as Indians we can be proud of him whether we like or not.
Agree. But a lot of Indians think they should like him because he won those awards. That is the problem with us.
Like him for his music, not for winning international awards. Respect him for that.
A month full of shows!!!!!

I care nothing about the taste / preferences of the western world, to be honest. My preferences are based on my own liking, and that spans a very wide range of genres in both Indian and Western music.
But specific to ARR, the point was that he is definitely extremely popular, perhaps the most popular director across India for nearly 3 decades now - which would mostly make those disliking him a minority.

That is entirely true.
I just don't find his work attractive as far as my musical sensibilities go. And I know of a lot of people who like him not because of his music but because they should like him. They can rarely name a third song after Roja Janeman and Vande Mataram (attributed to him).

That laughter reaction on your post is for that item in bold.
Re. the first part of your post:
Sure, I can understand that tastes differ. Those differences are what makes the world an interesting place 👍

I Love him. ARR is one of my most favourite composer but I dislike how we can't criticise him just because who he is. His recent albums have been so dull imo. As for popularity ARR is definitely a big brand but if you go to a tier 2, 3 cities in North India it's mostly Nadeem-Shravan music or the 90's music that gets played. That's why Alka Yagnik has so much streams on YouTube.
Good to see that Rosario listens to John Denver 😊

Frankly I don't think he is at all popular with the masses in West Bengal. You will almost never hear his songs played at festivals. I may be wrong, but that is my observation.
If this tour actually happens as per this schedule that will mean that Superstar Singer will not start before April.
