Yikes, okay, I'm on a roll apparently. 2 writeups in one day. So this is sort of like a continuation to my last post "Abhimanyu vs The Goenkas" but can be a stand alone too. Here too, we have our beloved Abhira well into their marriage and away from all the current drama (*manifesting*)
I just wanna see my babies happy.
Abhimanyu never had the best relationship with his family. His issues with his father aside, he just never connected with any of them. They were just people he lived with. The only ones he had a true bond with was his mother, Neil and maybe Nishtha. That all changed once his songbird entered his life.
His Akshu had this natural ability to love everyone she met. She cared for all he came in her orbit and she did it selflessly, without expecting love in return (a fact he wasn't very fond of but that's for another day).
She fell in love with his mother almost seamlessly. One of the reasons he fell for her during those initial days at the Gopi festival was because she reminded him so much of his mother. Her passion for singing, her charitable soul and the oceans of pain she hid in those big beautiful eyes of hers.
Akshara brought music back to the Birla house, Manjiri often says. He's spent many evenings with his head on one of their laps and his eyes closed, listening to the heavenly sound of the two singing. Those were the moments where he felt most at peace.
Akshu, who hadn't felt a mother's touch on her forehead since she was a child was overwhelmed at finally having a mother figure.
Abhimanyu walked into the house at 3 am, after a full 72 hours of nonstop surgeries. He was exhausted and almost dead on his feet. The only thing he wanted right now was to climb into his warm bed and fall asleep to the sound of Akshara's breathing. Quietly closing the doors he turned around to find a sight that practically melted his heart.
His mother was half reclining on the couch with her shawl neatly tucked around her and her feet propped up on the coffee table. And beside her, sweetly curled up with her head on Manjiri's lap was Akshu. Manjiri had her hand on Akshu's head and Akshu's hands were tangled in Manjiri's sari. He clicked a quick picture on his phone and set it as his lock screen before walking over to them. Dropping to his knees beside the two ladies who owned his heart he laid his hand on top of his mother's where it rested on Akshu's head. His mother, used to Abhi returning late, woke up and smiled at him. He raised his eyebrows in question, running his hands through Akshu's silky locks.
"She wanted to stay up and wait for you. I told her you'd be late but my stubborn daughter never does listen does she" she sighed, shaking her head fondly. "Go on, you both need rest."
He kissed his mother's cheek before carefully picking Akshu up and carrying her up to their room.
Neil, of course, had been her best friend ever since the Gopi festival. He really had to give it to his brother, if not for him....he didn't even want to think about it. Neil doted on Akshara, often ganging up with her and Nishtha to tease Abhi, knowing Abhi can never get mad at his Akshu. Neil often dropped by the Birla Hospital and spent time with Akshara during her breaks. He'd lost count of the number of times he's found them laughing and high fiving and taking pictures. The two always had some scheme or other cooking up. It's like they turned into kids around each other. Nishtha too looked up to her 'Akshu Di' as a big sister, often going to her for advice on relationships and mental heath. Akshu drove her to her first date and held her through her first heartbreak.
To his immense surprise, Mahima Taiji ended up adoring Akshu too. He didn't know how or when, but Mahima grew to be almost as protective of Akshara as he was, and that was saying something. Now he wasn't an idiot. He recognized his aunt can be crafty and downright cunning sometimes; but it seemed like she genuinely cared for Akshara, and was actually a key factor during the onset of their marriage. She played a vital role in bringing Arohi's lies to the front. She'd been the one to snap him into focus when Akshara had met with that horrible accident. He'd grown to admire her a lot more recently. He'd seen the way she cut down Arohi when she was on one of her "I'm the best" tirades and he honestly applauded her for it.
Mahima saw in Akshara a soul worthy of Abhimanyu. She was like Manjiri, but a lot less naive and a lot more fierce when it came down to it. Mahima never claimed to be a very good person, that was Manjiri's department, but she did care for Abhimanyu. She recognized the love the two shared and knew only they can be each other's salvation. Back when Abhimanyu was engaged to Arohi, she had observed the Goenka's family dynamic and quickly figured out the way they spoiled one daughter and neglected the other. She'd grown to be quite protective of Akshara, and specially Akshara and Abhimanyu's relationship. She helped her establish the Music Therapy department in Birla Hospital and marketed it judiciously. Akshara was now well known and people from all over the country visited Birla Hospital to be a part of the Music program. Mahima was proud of Akshara, she'd come a long way and she was a huge help at the hospital.
But even Mahima was surprised when Akshara managed to win over Harshvardhan. Harsh was never a fan of Akshara. Hell, he wasn't a fan of anyone that didn't help his precious PR. But even he couldn't help but cave in front of Akshara's sweetness. He's always known Abhimanyu's love for Akshara was cosmic. He didn't understand it, but he recognized it and accepted it when Akshara married into the family. But when she went out of her way to fix the relationship between him and Abhimanyu he couldn't believe it. He didn't believe anybody could be that good. Why on earth would this tiny chit of a girl go to such lengths to fix a relationship that had been severed for years now? What did she get out of it, she already had Abhimanyu's love and the Birla status.
She fought with him, she fought with Abhimanyu, she dug and she dug and she dug and she forced them to talk to each other, forced him to apologize. He'd almost started to resent her even more. But when Abhimanyu finally called him "Papa" instead of that damned "Sir" he'd found tears in his eyes.
And so Akshara ended up being adored by the entire Birla clan. Abhimanyu supposed he should have seen it coming. He himself was the first victim of her unending sweetness and charisma. Her magnetic heart called to everyone.
Yeah I know there are more people in the Birla clan but I feel like these are the major ones right now. I just want my baby Akshu to have a family that loves and adores her like she deserved.
(I might be on an anti Goenka agenda lol)
