That Time: An AbhiRa OS.
“Hi, Ma”
“Arrey, Abhi beta.. Aaj itni jaldi kaam khatm kar liya” (you finished off your work so soon), said Manjiri while glancing at the clock. She smiled, thinking of the time when her son used to walk in after everyone had gone to bed. But now, with Akshara home, his habits were changing. For good.
“Haan ma, aaj koi surgeries posted nhi thi.(Yes Ma, There weren’t any surgeries posted for today) I finished with my rounds as well. So, I too off. Why? You don’t want me home?” teased Abhi with his signature smirk in place.
Manjiri laughed and ruffled his hair before he could protest. “Ja, kamre mein jaa, Akshara wahi hai.(You can go to your room, Akshara is there only) Freshen up and I’ll send something to eat with the staff.”
Smiling and after giving her a hug, Abhi proceeded towards his room, to see the person who’s face he missed the most. Two years of marriage and still, he was thankful everyday that she was a part of his life, the missing piece he had always been searching for.
Walking into the room, he was just about to call out her name when he saw his ladylove wrapped in the blanket on their bed. A soft smile adorned his face seeing her sleep, gosh how could someone look so pretty while sleeping, he thought. He stood by the door admiring her when he heard the staff clear his throat. Flushed, he took the tray from their hand and walked in, kicking the door shut behind him. Setting the tray on the side table, he walked over to the bed and sat beside her. He slowly brushed off the hair falling over her face and kissed her forehead softly.
“Akshuuuu..” he whispered softly.
“Hmmm…” she mumbled, but made no efforts to wake up.
Weird, thought Abhi, for Akshu never slept in the evening. Usually, this was the time she had tea with Ma and she would catch up on other things before Abhi came. For when he was home, all of her time and attention would be for him.
Shaking his head, Abhi walked over to the washroom to freshen up. After a long while, he had come home before time and he wanted to make the best use of it.
Nicely settled in bed, Abhi was furiously typing away on his laptop, when Akshu stirred. She opened her eyes for a fraction of a second only to realise her darling husband was right beside her.
Just what I need, thought Akshara. Her day had already been rough and she had been hoping Abhi would come back early. She had almost texted him the same, only to realise it was a selfish demand to make, and her husband was a busy surgeon. So, she decided to suck it up and solve the problem in the best way possible – sleep on it.
“Abhi…”, she called out softly.
“Hmm…” Abhi said, still concentrating on his laptop.
“Abhi, it hurts Abhi” Akshu whispered, her voice laced with distress
That was enough to make him stop typing and give her his full attention. “Baby what happened?” Abhi asked in a concerned voice. But one look at her face and a little calculation in his brain, Abhi knew exactly why his wife had been asleep in the evening. Of course, that had to be it.
“Is it that time?” Abhi asked, with a small smile on his face.
“Yes”, Akshu said, with a cute pout on her face. “And don’t smile like that, you’ve no idea what I am going through.”
“I know baby, I am sorry. But this is why I tell you to take your medicine as soon as it starts. Idk why you wait for it to get worse.”
“But..But, I don’t like the medicine Abhiii… I drank the…” Akshara whined, before Abhi cut her off in the middle and frowned.
“Baby, you know that the gharelu nuskha doesn’t work on you. That is why I kept the box of anti-spasmodics in the cupboard. Now, I’ll bring it to you rn and you better eat it asap,” Abhi said sternly.
“Okayyy,” Akshu replied in a smile voice.
Handing over the medicine, Abhimanyu waited till she gulped it down before he smiled and gave her a hug. “I just get mad when you don’t take care of yourself Akshu. I don’t want you in pain, that’s all.”
Relaxing in his embrace, Akshara let his scent wash over her senses, and felt her pain diminish.
“But I hate taking medicine every month, you know it na Abhi. Plus see, my medicine is you, my pain is already decreasing now that you are with me.”
Chuckling, Abhi kissed the top of her head and then whispered, “Waise, ek aur tareeka hai to get rid of this” (Ahem, btw, there is another way in which we can ger rid of this)
“Kya kya?” (What, what) Akshara looked up excitedly. Anything apart from this medicine.
With a twinkle in his eyes, Abhi bent further down till he was almost touching her lips. Feeling her heart race, he chuckled and whispered – “Let’s have a baby”.
Feeling her cheeks turn red, Akshu pushed Abhi with whatever strength she had, and rolled her eyes, “Haha, very funny. Tum hi chahte theyy na that we wait till Neil gets married. Toh bas, ek saal aur. Aaru ki MD bhi finish ho jayegi and fir toh chatt mangni patt vyaah. And then, then we can plan for our baby.” (You only wanted to wait until Neil’s marriage, right! Anyway, just another year. By then, Aarohi’s MD will also get over. We can fix the engagement and wedding immediately after that. One all this is done, we can plan for our baby)
Smiling widely, Abhi stared at the beautiful human in his arms. How did he get so lucky? He’d never know. For he never believed in love and marriage. And here he was, in love with the purest soul in the world and planning babies that he couldn’t wait to hold. He sent a silent thanks to his Shivji for making his life so fulfilling.
A gentle nudge brought him back to the world.
“Abhiii… where are you lost? You’re forgetting our ritual,” she pouted again.
“I’m not baby…I’m not. There’s chocolate ice cream in the fridge below and this time it’s your turn to select the movie. Just don’t choose a senti one, I don’t wanna see you cry.”
“Yay!! I love you soo much. Now, go get the ice cream while I set everything up. Go, go”.
Laughing, Abhi hurried down the stairs and grabbed the ice cream at top speed. Closing the door of their room, he settled in bed only to realise Akshara had chosen k3g. Well, ice cream, k3g and Akshu, was there a better end to this day? Absolutely not.

Hi y'all. The obsession with my Abhi and our cutest AbhiRa made me wanna write something, so this is what came out xD it's my first attempt ever, so please forgive my mistakes. All likes and comments are welcome ^__^ And, so are constructive criticisms. I am looking to know about areas that require improvement.
I posted this story on Wattpad, and my favourite writer gave me such a boost, that I thought I'll post it here as well to see what y'all think :') Can't match up to IF standards, but I love Abhi and Akshu so much, I had to try. Tagging a few of you here, please do leave your thoughts ❤️
