If it gets a long free run at theaters it will work..the movie deserves to succeed..maybe a case of slow n steady.
But seems like more restrictions coming in coz of covid..lesser occupancy, night curfew etc may impact collections
SHOCKING! Aplha collects only 5cr in 2nd weekend.

I think producers may recover the cost from OTT and postponed releases of other films

It will be difficult, the budget for this movie was huge apparently. Maybe a semi hit.
Last night i watched the movie 83
Things I learned from it.
1. If they talk bad about you, you don’t have to answer or give any statements, your actions will speak for you so keep silence and show actions.
2. Say I will do it, i can do it, good luck is not enough, do it.
3. No need to return to yesterday, else i would have been different person.
4. Its now or never, now wont return, you will regret it tomorrow if you wont do your best today.
5. Even a small hope is a hope, don’t lose your trust in what you do or think you can do.
6. People will always have an opinion, it’s up to you, keep or not.
7. In the field, no one knows or cares about your personal problems, they will judge by what you do so give your best.

Beautiful. All life lessons.
I haven't watched the movie but I felt the trailer was decent and interesting. Considering the facts that India is a cricket crazy nation and also Gen Z may not be knowing about India's first WC win, I thought the movie will be a hit. I wonder what went wrong with the movie.

Marketing was very weak imho. Also it wasn't released at the right time, with the whole Covid drama people just seem to watch some dumb masala stuff like Sooryavanshi or Pushpa (pure escapism).
Most people who have actually watched 83 think its great so the movie's quality is not the problem

I guess they should have released it on Amazon prime or Hotstar instead of theaters. Obviously public would still feel its risky to go to theaters specially during this third wave. Even I myself am scared to watch the movie in a theater near me even though I liked the trailer a lot.
