These are trade estimates. I am sure Producer Figures will be 15-16 Cr+.

Definitely a good opening.

The film has both strong points as well as weak points. While the performance by the cast is great the film completely fails on building an emotional rapport with the central character , i.e. Kapil Dev. While during the tenure of the movie we get to know about Ballu and his fiancee issues, Chikka vegetarian issues , Lalaji and Amaranth etc. we don't see any personal thing regarding Kapil(first half)..... adding to that there is no self introspection scenes also for him... After first half when Romi arrives then there is some heart to heart talk between them though but then the film completely misses the team bonding among themselves or with their partners.... before their D- day.

The movie starts with everyone leaving for England for World Cup and ends on winning it(no-nonsense)👏, in between we have couple of matches one after other back to back. Climax scene falls a bit flat.

It's a great movie for cricket lovers 🥳has some emotional moments too especially the interval one. I cried there😆. The whole audience was clapping multiple times.

So it looks like the movie is not as big of an opener as was being predicted pre release. 15-16 CR is a good response, but nothing extra ordinary. That is Tanhaji level of opening, and well short of Sooryavanshi's 25cr+ opening.

Will desperately need good word of mouth to get more than just a HIT status. Seems like the execution might just not be 'massy' enough to excite B and C centers

But how have people come to conclusion that she is still firmly at Numero Uno position among Indian actress from a movie where she is nor in titular, neither in flowerpot kind of but in less-than- -5-minute cameo appearance？

By the same virtue, how can her supposed fans （read hyperactive PR, if one is to borrow Sonam's words）make a 4 minute video featuring only Superstarni DP to flout her as the best thing about the 83（that too much ahead of movie release？

Lets for a second disregard her compulsive obsession to usurp everyone including her own husband, but how can she be the best thing about the movie that features the country's only unanimous religion -the cricket, beyond peoples personal faiths, the indomitable team and a spectacular win that was 83 and all the blood, toil, sweat and tears that made the movie？

I want this movie to do well. Today is just the second day of the release and Im hoping it to pick up in the upcoming days of the week. But it is extremely sad to see 83 becoming only about DP just like her wedding and the release of Chhapak.

According to BOI, opening is 14-14.50 Crores.

If we compare it to Sooryavanshi opening, 83 first day seems fine because Diwali is a holiday which had potential to record collections upto 50 Crores on a single day pre-pandemic.

Sooryavanshi could only get an opening of 26 Crores due to pandemic. While movies which released pre-pandemic on Christmas could record collections upto 35 Crores. So 83 opening to 14 Crores during pandemic seems fine.

But Sooryavanshi also lost a few Crores because of Eternals which released on the same day and opened to 8 Crores. Without competition from Eternals, Sooryavanshi could've done 30 Crore+ on first day.

And if we start comparing it to openings of No Way Home (32 Crores) and Pushpa (45 Crores), then Bollywood is clearly not performing well.

Opening in the range of 15-20 Crores would've looked better for 83. Still clearly alot of people were having unrealistic expectations from this film.

Now the night curfews would've a direct impact on the box office figures so can't expect much from word-of-mouth either.
