Story wise the dp part of the story was getting quite stagnant. Having them around would'nt have led it to take the form it has now. (This couldve possibly been achieved through say a jungle track for Abhigya... but goes back to the cost issue.)

Possibly. No one except the writers know the reason why they're gayab for this long.
