I have been off IF for sometime and just came across this news that Arunita will not feature in the Octopus songs. And my apologies that I have not read the pages of discussion on this topic here. I thought I will type up my POV before reading others thoughts on this matter.
I am sure a lot of fans are mad and confused as to why such a sudden decision. Her mom was very much there at the launch and seemed happy when Arunita was posing in the winter look. She and her family were aware that they will be singing and acting in the whole series. The series has not even started as yet. They were only doing the 3 songs before the series starts.
She shot for one song and rehearsed for the second and then backed off before the launch of the Manjoor Dil and still shares a very good friendship with Pawan.
My take on it is that during shooting of Manjoor Dil she realized that acting is not easy and it is a strenuous job. She herself mentioned how hard acting is for in her interviews during Manjoor Dil launch and by then as we now know, she had already made a decision to not act anymore with Octopus.
I feel the parents didn't want their young daughter to work such extra long hours in dire conditions and she may have agreed to it. I don't blame the parents. They want their young one protected and instead of acting, focus on her first love that is singing.
Singing is her forte and it comes naturally to her and it is done in comfortable studios. Acting is the harder part which maybe taxing for a young girl who is not used to face such things. Even Indian Idol was long hours but it was all inside comfortable studios.
I hope both Arunita and Pawan's fans as well as the duo fans respect the decision and support all their projects individually and together.
I do feel bad for Raj surani. I know many people think that he may have exploited and asked her to do things she was not comfortable with but he always comes across as a sensible guy. I doubt he will do that especially with Pawan there who I think does support and protect Aru. It is a loss for him and Octopus as they had invested a lot of time in grooming these 2 non actors.
Frankly there is nothing wrong for a singer to feature in their own songs. It's a norm these days. Here in US most singers feature in their own songs. I thought even in Indian Idol, Sony was trying to promote Arunita as an actress making her act with Subhash Ghai and Jackie Shroff! I thought I heard her dad say in an interview that she is getting offers from Bengali TV or shows to act.
I hope she grabs singing opportunities that come her way and I hope she does focus on her singing as she is very talented and has the ability to shine given the right opportunity. It is very easy to get drowned in all the other talented singers out there if she doesn't know how to handle her public image. They should invest in some professional PR person (not the one assigned by Sony) to handle her social media and contracts.
Hats off to Pawan to keep it professional and act with the new actress. I feel that is for the better as i think both PD and Aru were getting overtly conscious of the camera. Now with the new girl there is no personal equation and he can act more freely.
One motto I believe in: Whatever happens, happens for the good and this may be good for both Arunita and Pawandeep.
Hope the fans take this in stride and not play the blame game.
Wish them both success and hope the next song from Octopus is a success as well.
