Ugh! There were better were-wolves before Twilight. Anyone remember Oz from Buffy The Vampire Slayer who got bit by his toddler cousin? Anyway werewolves aren't desi enough. Ekta is minting money selling the Nagin myth created by two Hindi films Sridevi's Nagina and Reena Roy's Nagin. Let's be original here. It is not as if male supernatural creatures are extinct in Indian folklore.

My post was just a joke for timepass. Anyways I remember Oz, but when I think of werewolf, Jacob comes to mind. May be because I grew up with Twilight.
And I Just don't want to bring Ekta Kapoor's caricatures into discussion. They are out of world.
And frankly speaking Indian supernatural creatures are meme worthy.

Meme worthy? Not at all. Nitish Bharadwaj, the original Krishna of Chopra Mahabharat managed to pull off a sexy naughty Gandharva back in the 90s in a Malayalam movie. That was one great forbidden love story with Brahma playing the disapproving father. .Reena Roy's Nagin was mean,sexy and dangerous. Granted the movie is cheesy from our perspective. But Rekha, Yogita Bali and the rest of the heroine brigade must have had a blast pretending that "Look at me. I'm Reena." Ekta shamelessly copied from both the Nagin films and created a monster franchise which keeps minting money.Why? Because we Indians want desi supernatural creatures. Not just imported vampires,werewolves and zombies.
