This is just food for thought and please do not take it otherwise... but Mithai does not seem to be geared that much towards portraying career-oriented women in a progressive manner

Given all the female characters in the show only Torsha, Reboti and now Dhara are seen working full time...and 2 of the 3 are not always shown in the best light.

Sree and Nipa are still young and trying to set up their careers but I wish they are shown going to college or something once in a while

Similarly, Didiya's background is never touched upon which is surprising especially considering her mother in law is shown to be such an enlightened lady

Now I am in no way claiming that being a housewife or homemaker is any less than having a full-time job outside or that it is in any way easy but I don't like this sentiment that Songshar dharma is above all else and that everything else must come second to family.

Mithai initially was shown to be an enterprising young lady with her own dreams and ambitions but now seems to be doing everything only to please the Modak family. That day when Dadai was consulting Sid about giving the 3 shops to Som, neither one even once considered the position Mithai would be put in. Sid very easily gave up his rights for the shops saying that Som da had contributed the most without even once thinking about what Mithai deserves. That too for a man who had burned down the base kitchen just a few days ago!

Sorry for the long rant but this recent phase of "Hum saath saath hai" and parivaar ke ek rakha above all else is not sitting well with me. Yes it is important to show Sid's growth and bonding with his family but right now it seems as if Modaks are just using Mithai to placate Sid and increase their business. Hope some of these changes happen soon in the next phase!

@bold- So aptly said. It seems as if Sid/Som has forgotten what has happened earlier. Suddenly Som becomes a goody boy, Sid becomes a tyagi boy. Mithai was never in consideration of Modaks. Dadu Modak want to continue his business so he needs Mithai. Baba Modak now needs her to keep his equation with son going. Sid Modak, needs Mithai to fulfil his so called promise to keep dadai at home. Rest of the Modaks need Mit to keep Sid in control. So all in all, Mithai herself doesnt seem to have any individuality.

Hope we get a better plot in iTV, (knowing its kind of impossible)

Also, just to celebrate b-day, ruining some business dinner, is such a lame thng to do. It just sends a message that Office work is time-pass work which u can do when u have free time

@Bold - I agree completely with all these parts highlighted in Bold

@Red - I've a different take on this part.. Tess n Reboti are shown in negative lights coz of their attitude n behavior towards Mithai n later Sid too.. Honestly sometimes I even feel Reboti isn't that much of a negative person.. Whatever she does is for Tess n her happiness.. Nothing else matters for Reboti.. But Dhara n Sushmita Mam are really positive characters.. Sree n Mithai are pretty much focused on their careers.. Yes Mithai is working for SM n not her own business but still she's giving her best.. Nipa's character is a career oriented girl too but she is either busy falling in love or lost in the dreamworld of shopping in big cities.. Once she comes out of these zones she'll shine in fashion field like it was mentioned earlier that she wanna become fashion designer..

@Green - Online classes due to Covid 😜

@Bold Pink - Though I agree with you on this but I think Sid said that coz he himself doesn't want Mithai to continue working for SM forever.. He wants Mithai to complete her education n then start her own business like he had mentioned in several occasions.. Since the beginning their were 3 Most Important Tracks mentioned in Mithai show..

1. Mithai had promised herself that she would bring Sid back to his family ✔

2 . Som's past + Sid's relationship with Somoresh - Ongoing

3 . Mithai's dream of starting her own business - This is the most important track n Sid will play huge role in this track like Mithai played n will play in the above 2 tracks..

Bold Fully agree - Truth be told Samaresh now seems to be the least hypocritical out of the lot. He never wanted to adopt a kid but his mahan wife and family foisted it on him. Adoption is a very sensitive issue and should never be undertaken if both parents are not fully on board with it. Even if Som was his illegitimate child that decision should have been taken jointly and not foisted on him.

Similarly, I agreed with his apprehensions about Sidhai marriage, especially the 2nd time around. Given the circumstances of Dadai's songsar tyaag and Sid's sudden 180 turnaround on marriage, any father would be suspicious. I liked it when he told Thammi the other day that it was not only Sid's life that was at stake with this marriage but also Mithai's - a fact that is often conveniently ignored by the Modaks

Italics On the flip side Sid is also not trying very hard to fulfill his promise to Mit. Even if he did get caught up in a business dinner the least he could do was give Mithai a call and explain the situation to her. But again Mithai does not seem to be very high on his list of priorities - it is only when Dadai is involved that he seems to be concerned 😕

Sorry for my long and negative posts today but the recent episodes are making me feel frustrated and disheartened about where the story is going... but I guess that is one of the dangerous side effects of getting invested in a Bengali ITv show 🤪 Thank you all for your patience. ❤️Please feel free to agree/disagree

Yeah the fans are just enjoying Miyhayi serving tea n cooking snacks and meals for the family n doing all the household chores . No one cares for her feelings . She yearns to have a shop of her own which all conveniently forgot . I have never seen her having tea or snacks with the others 🤔why this discrimination?

For the very first time she sat on the dinning table was when Sid offered to serve the ladies on bhai phota .🤔

bold Exactly Mithai is giving her best on all fronts..but should the Modaks also not reciprocate and help her achieve her dreams by at least providing her with an education? They are content to sit back and let her work while occasionally patting her head and praising her efforts...how is this helping her establish a career?

Ar kichu na hok to at least 2 lakh er checque ta to Dadai ferot dik kimba ekta FD kore dik? Shetao to hostage kore bose ache buro 😛

@green chalo ye maan liya 😆

@blue I genuinely hope this happens soon...

@Bold - I've ZERO expectations from any Senior Modaks especially Dadai The Great Modak 🙄 Earlier he was like - Ami Mithai ke lekhapora sekhabo, Siddhart'er Joggo kore tulbo bla bla 🙄 And the very next moment when he realized his business was running at loss he was like - Bhaad mein jaaye Mithai er porashona.. Agey Mithai ke diye nijer business bachai 🙄

The only person who is genuinely concerned about Mithai's education is Sid.. But Sid is right about one thing - Mithai herself is too much involved in "BoumaGiri" .. He needs to make Mithai realize that Education is important too..

One of the reasons I really love this forum is because we're always able to dissect the episodes down, separating the wheat from the chaff, and this ongoing discussion is no exception.

While the story is amusing and heart-warming, it does have its fair share of bothersome loose ends. And the list only seems to be growing.

Yes Sid has now "changed" for the better, mingling with his family members and understanding them better. But if you come to think of it, his interaction with Mithai has grown only commensurately with that of his family. He maybe looks at Mithai like any other family member, caring for her the same way. Has there been any real growth in the relationship? I doubt. Yes, if Mithai hypothetically leaves, he will miss her. But there is a difference between missing someone's presence and actually being in love with them.

Secondly, as has been pointed out, the plot now mostly revolves around not-so-subtly glorifying "girls==ginnis" which I find rather infuriating. I may sound rude in saying so, and please excuse me for that, but I don't see Sandy, Rajib and Ratul doing much apart from bursting into peals of laughter periodically. When the women of the house toil in the kitchen trying to meet the demands of the men, it wouldn't take much for these men to join them, but it would set an encouraging precedent.

When Sid decided to serve the ladies the other day, Rajib and some others just stood there, gaping like Sid had done a Nobel-prize worthy act. Number 1, why didn't they join Sid and number 2, why was this a one time affair? It was indeed commendable that Sid had the sense to do this, but this behaviour must not be glorified, rather, normalized. Seating at the dining table must be hunger based, not gender based. Women are humans too and they too feel hungry. They shouldn't have to wait until an entire lot of ungrateful men finish, before they get to eat the remnants. I strongly believe that applauding something like this, which is supposed to be normal anyway, tends to propel the ego in some men, making them even more entitled.

And lastly, and most importantly, the careers of these women. As the story meanders towards kitchen politics, with even those who once dreamt of being successful, now serving tea and disrupting other people's office work, I see little hope.

I eagerly wait for a day where Sid (or any Modak) is pitted against Mit. I would like to see who among the Modaks' actually stand by Mit at that time. A disheartening low would be to see the saying "Kaajer bela kaaji, kaaj phurolei paaji" come true.

End of rant, thank you for reading😛

Absolutely true post Mishti ....

I thought the same the other day why Ratul n Rajib didn't join Sid n Sandy??

About sitting in dining table earlier they used to show Sree n Nipa joining at dinner along with the men.. But Mithai or other women never.. Specially Mithai.. This show sends out this message that a good "Bouma" is one who eats after every single member of the family has finished having their meals 🙄 This proves every show is regressive no matter how popular it is..
