Hello everyone I am new to this forum!

One thing about the discussion around Arohi that confuses me. I always see posts saying things like "let's hope they don't turn Arohi into a negative character," "Arohi is a more complex character" etc. Now, while Arohi might not be the typical ITV vamp (right now) who is plotting to throw the heroine off a bridge or something OTT and extra like that but she is most certainly a negative character. Other than her ambitious nature and competitive streak she has zero good qualities. From childhood till now let's take a look at the things she has done ....

- In childhood called Akshu a commoner and herself a princess and had a general haughty attitude (ok, this can be excused by saying maybe she's a spoiled brat but this was BEFORE she finds out akshu is not Sirat's biological daughter).

- Once Arohi knows the truth about Akshu's real mother she starts wishing that she was the only real daughter of Kairat and just generally starts behaving absolutely horribly towards Akshu.

- She is the sole reason behind Akshara leaving her own home for so many years and having no contact with her family also because she blames her slightly older sister for her mother's death. Now, everyone can argue that Arohi saw her mother die she was traumatized etc. etc. but Akshara was in that exact position as well and not only did she lose Sirat she was told at a young age that Sirat (the only mother she knew) was not her real mother and her whole life was a lie. She lost both Naira and Sirat and still manages to be a decent human being.

- In present day, Arohi verbally abuses and gaslights Akshara several times and says awful things to her like she was happiest when Akshu was gone all those years and that's all she ever wanted and she has ZERO self-reflection or guilt for any of these comments. In fact, she can clearly see that Akshara is distraught by these words and all she does is sit there and smirk. She doesn't say these awful things out of anger most of the time, it's calculated and she knows what she's doing. At this point, she's even moved towards being physically aggressive with Akshara.

- Even if we disregard this sister confusion engagement mess the only time she has ever been a halfway decent person is when she's scared that Abhi will realize how she treats Akshu so she pretends to care about her. Even when Akshara was having a severe panic attack Arohi's only concern was how she had to pretend to care or Abhimanyu would realize that they have a bad relationship and look down on her.

Do any of these qualities or scenarios sound like anything a positive character would have? The beauty of morally grey and ambiguous characters is that even during times where they make awful choices and do awful things there is always a hint of inner conflict about their actions and there is usually a deeper meaning behind their words. It can be as subtle as a conflicted expression or hints of guilt after doing/saying something awful but in Arohi we see none of that at all.

I'm not saying she can't change or become a better person in the future, but at the moment she is quite simply an awful person who doesn't have much going for her other than her profession. She has full potential to be something more but that is definitely not possible without some kind of redemption track for how she has treated Akshara. And this is something the Goenka family has been ignoring for too long as well so it's definitely their fault too.

I'd love to know what everyone thinks about this and their opinions!

I'm pretty sure what people meant was an ITV vamp, like the one who plots and gets away, murders and gets away, gets the lead to divorce, gets the lead in jail, scams the family, plans for destruction and stuff, or acts innocent on screen but curls her hair and smirks to herself and tells the audience clearly that she's here only for the purpose of destroying the FL and her life.

Arohi is a negative character, but she'll be an official vamp when she does what ITV vamps do. Whatever you pointed so nicely is IRL people who have a chance at redemption.

Itv vamps don't.

Hey, a very valid post.

But i just wanted to point out that whatever Arohi did was solely because she felt insecure all throughout her life for various reasons. She is insensitive - yes, she is not so caring - agreed, way too competitive for her own good (so much so, that she even competes and challenges to make abhi hers), quite immature and heartless even, at times. But only towards Akshara because she has felt like that all throughout her life. She is very sweet towards the rest of the family. and people do harbor bitterness but that doesn't necessarily make a person a villain. there could be so many layers in a character instead of just being either black or white.

if you look at the last three episodes, you can actually see that Arohi is genuinely a good character and she has finally started seeing the good in akshu - very late i know, if you think realistically, it does take for people to push away all those years of bitterness and really see the good in people. it's not so easy. but maybe the whole shaadi topic was a solid incident for her to believe that her sister really wants the good for her. All those hugs and appreciation and sharing her happiness with her sister just shows she wants this just as much.

So when i said Arohi's character has a lot of potential, I meant that the director could show her journey from being that insecure, heartless and insensitive woman into being a little understanding and appreciative towards akshu, and gradually accepting the harsh truth that abhi loves only akshu and being mature about it instead of becoming a total vamp and promising to ruin their lives...this is ofc after throwing her initial tantrum and completely shutting akshu off, otherwise Arohi's character won't be retained lol

EDIT: This was meant to be a reply, my bad 😊

I agree! She is definitely not an ITV vamp but she's not a positive character either. Which is why I said with a redemption track she has tons of potential to later on be a good character.

While AbhiRa is a great jodi, the relationship I am personally most interested in is Arohi and Akshara so I'm on board with developing her character (I generally find the complex sibling relationships the most interesting in ITV shows in general because if the writing is good it really hits you emotionally).

The only thing is I feel as of right now where we are currently in the show she is an awful person.

I understand her insecurities because of Sirat being the second wife and the poison that her maternal grandmother filled her head with but her selfish and self-centered qualities have been present since childhood and the Goenkas did nothing about it. I think the whole issue of her having such a problem with Akshara that she felt the need to make her leave her own home is something that can't be taken lightly. And some of the things she has said can't be justified by her backstory imo.

As of right now, I wouldn't really say she's a showing the qualities of being a good person ... it's more like currently her greatest desire and wish was fulfilled so she is satisfied for the moment. As soon as something threatens her ego and wants she snaps right back into being super rude and disrespectful (like what happened with the bangle in yesterday's episode where she forces it off Akshara's hand).

But honestly the hug scene between Akshara and Arohi was one of the most emotional for me so far in the show and it makes me excited for how their relationship could develop in the future if the makers want to take it that direction (hopefully).

This is just my personal opinion and thanks for the reply!

Yo, I'm all in for the siblings too. In fact, I'd love more of Akshu, Aru and Kairav relationship thsn love tbh. But we all know everyone's gonna be sidelined got Abhira.

Also, if you're interested in a great sister duo, check out Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna hai on Hotstar. Totally lives with the title of the episode and both sisters legit love each to death.

That's actually one of my fav shows haha. I loved Jeevika and Maanvi's relationship a lot! In that show it was always them two against the world and a mostly loving relationship but something like this where one sister has so much resentment and bitterness towards the other who loves her unconditionally has so much more room for angst and growth. Like, if they ever do a track where Arohi regrets the way she treated Akshu all these years I know for a fact it would make me so emotional 😂

For a wattpad story or a novel, I honestly love your viewpoint and the angst between the sisters.

For a indian serial which needs TRP, this isn't gonna happen.

They might show Arohi all good when the show is either about to end or they wanna change the track to something else. No way are they gonna focus it on the sisters.

Sadge.

P.s. Ehmmbh is my favourite Indian serial too. JeeMaan are absolute goals.

YRKKH used to be pretty good with family relationships but even then it was all about life after marriage etc. And don't get me wrong I am very very excited to see some development with Abhi and Akshara but it does suck that we'll get so much sister negativity for so long lol. Tbh, I'm not surprised because even with Kaira who didn't really have vamps to deal with they did so much marriage-divorce-remarriage drama and then getting rid of Naira to bring in Sirat drama as well.

But still, I do like YRKKH for the most part even though there's things I'm frustrated about and it will always be one of my OG ITV shows.
