Re bold: iam surprised by that. From when Arunitha's fans started being in minority on this forum?? From the day I joined I think Arunitha's fans are almost 90% of forum members. Remaining 10% is split between others.

Regarding capabilities I believe Arunitha has real play back voice and is widely accepted by general audience compared to SMP but technically SMP is a better vocalist and is capable of carrying many genres with ease. You can consider this my bias but won't change my opinion. But both have definitely great future if they don't loose focus and keep learning and improving themselves. Remaining is destiny.

To clarify - I meant a minority in terms of the opinion I expressed above, not as an Arunita fan.

I agree SMP can carry many genres, but overall my belief is that Arunita has the potential to rule the music industry in India for the next 2 decades.

It may be bias and there is no need to change your opinion.

My bias suggests that the depth of Arunita's capabilities are extremely wide and it is as yet not exposed fully to the general public. Comparisons about who is a better vocalist will be more meaningful in a year or two when both have shown their full set of skills. Both have great skills😃

Irrespective, SMP will always likely be the better performer, and Arunita the more successful recording artist. That is my opinion and I won't change it! 🤣

In general Arunita has been pigeon-holed into soft, Indian-classical-based category while SMP has been pigeon-holed into peppy, Western category. I believe both have the capability to straddle both these categories.

But the yodelling and raspy voice style requires dedicated practice which Arunita may not have put in as yet, which is why I feel that currently at least, she may not be able to perform those songs.

Didn't notice. Salman's Pyar Tumse has overtaken Teri Umeed. Should be 2nd song to cross 50 million after Sawai.

Arunitha-SMP duet discussion lead us all to Arunitha vs SMP but this is better than other long discussions we have on this thread at least no completely opposite views. 👍🏼

My opinion about Arunitha is based on what I saw on II12and concerts so might be limited data.

As you mentioned only 2-3 years time can tell about their potential and what real industry people consider them for recording songs. But both deserve more opportunities for their talent. Hope they get them.

Salman's 2nd song is also doing very well. It is at 25M in 24 days!

I think Monali Thakur is a pretty good target for someone like Arunita. Monali is the only melody singer who does western genre well. She did speechless for Aladdin.But even Monali has only sung pop or pop ballads.Most melody singers won't get rock or Jazz to sing. Arunita's voice isn't very thin so she might be able to carry some western tunes with practice.But for that she needs to develop her lower register more.

Monali has an advantage that Arunita does not have. Monali comes from a westernized background and her education was from an English medium school.
That helps a lot I feel in doing western genre.
