It's a well reflected essay, imo.

And like the German idea of "Herrenmensch" (member of the master race) made those people (especially men) give in to their vices and tempers, this same conceit allows shameless and criminal deeds as long as it is supported through the image one fancies.

Probably legal strategy. Aryan has to go to the NCB office on Friday anyway so why should he put up with their harassment even on other days? They could easily schedule it so that they ask him what they need on the Fridays he is already there.

I think the lawyers know how to play hardball.
