Hi! So I watch GHKKPM on and off... so correct me if I am wrong. I would love to hear about all your thoughts.
Ok...So we all know that love triangles is the trend of the season. A lot of shows are having a two women, one man triangle. Of course the vamp is always subject to a lot of hate but I see an excessive resentment towards Paakhi when she is not half as bad as the other vamps đ€Ș
1. Paakhi is never two faced. She has always been clear that she doesn't like Sai
2. She has never made an attempt on her life (yes I know very high standards đ)
3. She was betrayed first
I think more than me questioning why she receives so much hate... my actual question is why does Virat go scot free? He is the real villain of ghum in my opinion. The way he has behaved with both Paakhi and Sai is wrong and bad.
Also why so much hate for the actress (Aish) that plays Paakhi... has she done something?
btw theses are genuine questions... so let me know!
The main point is in the last para đ but do read this all....kyuki maine bahut mehnat ki hai.đł
Now...getting serious:
Well, there are lots of things.
1. Firstly, even if she is not two faced that still wouldn't add up to anything. Just think, if there is a killer who says that he is a killer, will that mean he is not as bad as all the rest of the killers? No, he is still wrong and even more so that he is doing it all willingly and is not just driven by some uncontrollable emotions. Same thing goes for Patralekha. Secondly, Pakhi is two faced. Not about not liking Sai, but about everything else. About her feelings regarding Virat. About her feelings regarding Samrat. About her feelings regarding everyone else in the household (she doesn't truly like anyone, just pretends to remain on their good side).
2. I did not get this point. Never made an attempt as in never tried to kill herself? Well, that's right, I guess. But what of others? What about the life of Devi Tai or her daughter or even Sai? She didn't try to kill herself because she paved her way through the lifes of others. She just thought of herself and her relation with Virat, even when Sai was in the ICU (twice). She didn't even once care about Devi or Harini, but just wanted to beat Sai and make her look bad in Viratâs eyes.
3. No, she wasn't. How was she betrayed? Her and Virat weren't dating. What they did was flirting, and that doesn't mean anything. Virat made no promises to her, when they first met. But instead she was the one who blocked his number and said yes to someone else's proposal. As for the Vaada, well, that just adds more to the villainous of her character. Why did she ask for such an oath? What could possibly be on her mind? There are only two things that she might have been thinking: A. Extra marital affair. That way she can stay with Virat, and he will always be hers. But then, before getting betrayed, she was ready to betray Samrat. That will make this 'betrayal' more of a karma than a wrong doing.
B. Not having an EMA. But then...what could she possibly achieve? She wanted Virat but she wouldn't get him coz she would be married. That means, there was just one thought in her mind (a very popular line from Indian Cinema): Agar vo mera nahi ho sakta to kisi ka nahi ho sakta. Tbh, after this, she deserved to be betrayed. Infact it wouldn't be a betrayal, it would be justice.
She never loved Virat. He was a challenge, an obsession, and she was willing to have Saiâs life ruined to win it. She just wanted Sai out of his life, even if if meant her (sai) getting hurt and going to the hospital. What kind of person is okay with someone getting hurt just because it can mean that that someone will leave the house?
Pakhiâs chracter had so much potential. It isn't layered, but could have been. Just imagine if she at least tried to be gooc with Sai (not justbin front of Virat or others, but genuinely nice), if she was someone who zctually wanted to move on but Viratâs presence in yhe same household prevented it, and seeing his closeness with Sai angered her and in that anger, she shouted at Sai. Imagine if her character was shown actually humanly rather than this, typical vamp one. It would have been beautiful. But rather, they showed her to be the typical vamp. If they hadn't shown the devi tai or the harini part, it would have been much better. But all these just made her charcater a genuinely bad and selfish one, instead of faulty or scarred one.
While I sometimes do feel like Pakhiâs character is not given as much of benefit of doubt as Viratâs character, but I think that it is more because of the potrayal if her character rather than the actual fact of her being the vamp (keeping in mind those who genuinely care for character arc and development). Her character had the potential to be so much more but in the end the poor and clichĂ©d storyline chewed her up and spat out the typical no-one-can-like-her villain. Personally, after Virat, I feel like Pakhiâs character is the one who is really butchered a lot.
Pakhi isn't a bad villain, she is the worst of them all. The reason? You wrote it in your original post. Because she is not as bad as other villains. In other serials, the villains are so bad that viewers just think of them as a charcater from story but never as someone who can exist in real life, but here the makers and the actress made us think of Pakhi as actual genuine person who do exist in real life, as an imperfect person, so, instead of just watching for entertainment and drama, we started to get attached to her personally. And trust me, in real world, there is absolutely no man or woman who won't loathe someone who tries to come between a husband and wife. Why do we feel so bad when Virat does something wrong? Because the same is the case with Virat too. We are emotionally invested in his character, so every mistake feels like someone has not wronged the character but had wronged us. But Virat hadn't sone absolutely obnoxious things like Pakhi had, which is why he is easier to forgive.
The makers and the actress wanted us to think of Pakhi as a flawed person, but they forgot to show her as one.
