Whose pain is the problem?

This is about the mirchi incident

We are one year in the show, last time we saw this mirchi incident, Sai was new to the house and she was asked to grind chillies which resulted in burns in her hand

The whole issue was created but I don't understand why can't they purchase a professional grinder?

When this act results in burns in palm of women in the house, why continue it?

Is it good as long as its not happening to the FL?

Doesn't it mean that Pakhi, Karishma and Ashwini do it for the family and burn their palm on regular basis?

This is the thing I have noticed in the show and among the audience in general, the problem isn't the mirchi grinding which is hurting women, they have problem when it happens with the woman they love, rest can tolerate this pain

I would have preference Sai asking Bhavani to install a better equipment, it's not like Bhavani is not listening to every demand of Sai instead of asking Sonali to let you do it, why not end the wrong practice once and for all?

Chavans use grinder at other times but for Mahabhoj they will do everything on their own. That is the explanation given when Sai asked Usha Maushi to bring the grinder that day. It is not about FL or others for that matter.

Who needs to buy professional grinder when asli swaad toh silbatte se pise huye masalo se hi aata hai, yo!

The point here probably was the FL being expected to work even when she is just back from the hospital...Had Sonali not been so mean to her and let her be instead of discussing how she is being favoured it would never have come up..Only when she suggested that Sai should get into the kitchen after seeing her being dizzy twice , Sonali was asked to help in cooling she denied...So may be they were trying to show when you are this dirty...some dirt shall splash on your face as well...It was more of a tit for tat... FLs cannot be expected to take a morcha all the time...Though they do it most of the times...

About Pakhi and Karishma , Karishma has never show to have done it...they all run away from the aspect of doing it...I don't think they do it regularly..Pakhi had issues grinding it and did not know it as well and she has never done it apart from once when she was forced to ..They do use mixer grinder...Only for Mahabhoj they bring in this... but all in all its stupid...

There is one more problematic angle in this whole mirchi grinding thing. Bhavani decides (likes a master), which of her slaves will be doing this painful work (she never does this job BTW). Not only that, she also uses this work, to punish, demean and humiliate people who don't act according to her wishes. Perhaps this explains why she doesn't get an electric blender - making the ladies suffer at the silbatta is her tool for control.

I have a problem with Sai telling Sonali that it was "choti si baat". I would have preferred Sai calling out Sonali's double standards to cry foul when she is so mean to herself and Karishma. But to brush off this toxic behaviour of Bhavani as choti si baat was dissapointing to say the least.

They have a women-specific punishment tool and I am not able to word my disgust for the practice because they showed it as justice for the FL by one of her biggest perpetrator, as if it wasn't Bhavani against Sai from day 1

Sai stands for people who support her, I would have preferred if she had spoken against the practice rather than standing in support of it. No matter who is bleeding, its not good

Pakhi going to treat Sonali was the humane aspect of her but again it was presented as if people standing there without flinching at the sight of blood were right

Now think about the message when Pakhi was called inhumane for not giving Sai the medicine after she fell

It just seems its wrong only when done to the FL

Point being, Why is this act which ends in bleeding/burning of DIL's palm promoted as a form of punishment or in positive light?

Is it okay to do it to your daughter in law, if you don't like her? Bhavani did it to Sai and now she did it to Pakhi and Sonali, the act is wrong in my eyes regardless of the person at the receiving end because Bhavani has no right to punish anyone to a point that they start bleeding not even if masala tastes better

No it's not... definitely not and it was brought up the first time...but why expect anyway when the whole thing was reduced to basic ghar ka kaam kaaj long back when the FL wanted to leave ..She was made to believe that the family is a bit orthodox and it's just ghar ka kaam kaaj as per the requirement of the house...But why expect anything from this show..They trivialise abuse...to yeh kuch nahi hai...

I am more of a believer of taste of your medicine...rather than taking a morcha for every other perso in the house..Bhaiya bole ho toh bhukto...Infact I mentioned the other day how Sai should have reminded her of the taunts she as a young girl had to go through by the hands of the same people some months back for a task she was finding difficult to do...for crying and today the same set of people want to leave the house...

Just yesterday someone said Sonali taunted Ashwini on her looks and I would prefer someone told her that she is not anyway better because she comes from a classy family and is loaded with jewelleries... I would anyday go for a Tit for Tat...for people like these...I would also want Bhavani to be punished.. but looks like makers don't want to punish either Bhavani or Pakhi ..two unche khaandaan k log..

Pakhi had she helped or would have shut her mouth up when Sai was being tortured with the same thing...I would have considered her act as human..but since that incident I don't...so no it was only because same camp member..let's help her..

Answer to your question...anyone who enjoys someone else's pain..someone else's being an orphan...schemes for someone else's pain...their pain is not my problem...Personally I am that person...Sonali has been extremely vile for a long time..for the girl who took stand for the respect of her only son...So no..her pain is not my problem... especially the one which comes as a result of her being vile...

I have a different view, I don't see people at the receiving end when I see the perpetrator is Bhavani, the power and authority comes from her, this is making women do things which results in burn in their palm, I don't enjoy this abuse of power or the torture as a norm

Tit for tat was when Sai made Pakhi do it right after she was asked to do it, If you remember the track and none had any objections to it because Sai was right, she was just giving Pakhi, the taste of her own medicine

For the longest time in Ghum fandom people are of the opinion that CN people need to hire help and move on to using technology. It is Ashwini who does the maximum in the kitchen, no one would have endured such accidents more than her.

But this Mahabhoj has some custom wherein they have to do it with their hands. Honestly, it is not as dangerous as they make it look like; a lot of families do it on a stone grinder during Shrad or wedding times or for nursing mother's for certain rituals. It is the inhumane way they make the woman do it that's wrong, agreed. And the FL wasn't enjoying the torture, as far as I remember she went to help and was repeatedly saying that Sonali pushed her by mistake. I don't think anybody in that house enjoys someone else getting tortured other than Sonali, Omkar, Patralekha and Karishma not that this means anybody was asking for it. Using such things as punishment is wrong, better give it to someone with experience if it has to be done with hands on certain occasions.
