I may be on the minority who found Neil to be better now than before. I find him less stiff now.....I used to find him to be trying too hard to act controlled and calm....to me it used to look artificial. Now he looks a lot more at ease, comfortable, natural. Except ofcourse in abuse scenes where he goes OTT. Comparatively, earlier the PD lunch kaand was performed very well by him - he looked natural and scary.
Maybe I missed the nuances you are talking about in @bold. Can you elaborate which scenes and which subtleties you have in mind.
Well there are many... I really liked him in the reception scenes....When Sai mentioned deal om the first day of marriage, he gulped and said Hmm in a way that it looked like he is finding it hard to talk...
the scene where he clarifies Sai went to DIG officer..the way he stops Sai and the way he reacts to Sai wanting to stay at Usha Mausi's...was so subtle but yet noticeable...The pride in his eyes when DIG talks about Sai....Then his apology to her afterwards, where he again gulps when she tells she is nothing to him...though I liked Ayesha there more, especially when she is teary on his lets be friends.....
I also liked him during the Amey kaand fight..
His reactions to the name Aniket...there was a change in his eyes, everytime she took his name....he nailed the jealousy act then...I thought what is this man going to do when he falls in love and during Ajinkya he was so OTT at times....
Then my most favourite fights between the two, however I always felt Ayesha was better in both... His best though I agree was handholding one...He looked scary...a chauvinist and it scared me...surprised me...
The way he would gulp everytime Sai would mention no rishta between them and the hurt in his eyes...that is where I pointed out his nuances...But now I also realise Director has to be credited...A good director hides the flaws in the bad actors and enhances the art of a good actor...Second one happened with Neil...and first happened with Ayesha in the beginning and second later after learning from him.
