Off topic most of telugu movie songs released recently are doing much better in views than hindi songs. This song released with Sawai 1hr back and already at 686k views.

I never bothered to see how songs are doing in views just that I am giving attention to it lately. I think star value matters along with singer and song.

There is more to a song's hits than just language I feel.

Some Hindi songs do 1 Billion! Where are the number of individuals? The entire Hindi speaking population of India is half a billion?

I think only Google knows the answer :)

HR's channel has now 3 million subscribers. Obviously he himself is a big name but without Idol's popularity (especially AruDeep), it wouldn't have happened this soon.

As I said I am not well versed with how this views works, but i believe telugu music directors are much better than any existing hindi music directors. You can count my view as biased but most of telugu hit songs do have good lyrics and compositions along with singers. Bollywood or Hindi industry has a lot to learn from regional industry like telugu and Tamil. I don't think those views are manipulated either because I know even general audience listen them many times not just fans because of the quality of song.

Then it also depends on the channel they are released on - more subscribers = more views. Still does not make sense to me. Presumably a Telegu song will be heard by people who understand that language. That population worldwide may not be more than 100Million. That includes children and people who have no access to YTube. And everyone gets one view added no matter how many times you see it.

So who are the 690M individuals who listen to this song? And YT apparently registers a view if you see the full video, not get in and out!

Beats me.

Have to understand it to have faith in YT numbers.
