I didnt like it too much either but I found it better than the shining.

You didnt miss anything. Nothing much happened in the story. I forgot what happened already which means it wasnt important/worth remembering😆

I have heard a lot about this writer though and always wanted to read her books. But after reading this I was surprised why she is so popular?? All her books seem the same with just a few character changes here and there and a terrible writing style.

Thanks, I'll skip it then😛

Yup, this book specially is highly popular right now. Right after Anam chose it for this book club, I kept hearing about it on my GR group.

It's completely the opposite case for me. I liked The Shining way better. Maybe because I read it first.

I dont think Stephen King is my type of author. I am yet to like a book by him.😆

I've only read two of his books and liked one. Horror in general isn't my thing but I still give it a try once in a while. I've read only 4 horror books in total.

Do you like nonfiction? If yes, which sub-genre? I've been meaning to read some memoirs and autobiographies for some years but never managed to finish one until last week.

It is Sally Rooney’s style of writing. It was the case even for Normal People and Conversations with Friends. Frustrating, but people get used to it I guess.

I am yet to start reading either of this month’s picks.

Yes, I read that on GR. There are people who favour her style, so it's a good thing for them. But I don't feel motivated to read romance as it is, and this was an added problem.

How many books have you read this far? Have any of you completed your GR reading challange?

My initial challange was set for 10 books this year, later increased to 15. I've read 39 books this far. It's not a lot but its the best reading year I've ever had. Although I've only read shorter books, I've read many (by my standard) and also come across some good ones.
