In my opinion I never felt sai ever had a crush on him.
Yes she respected him and trusted him because of her aaba. She never saw him through those lenses.
I mean she was never even interested talking to him,she was always busy fighting with him for her aaba retirement as her prime concern was to get out of there safely to Nagpur.
She was like just any kid ,that talk sweetly and angrily at the same time because she never had any grudges or feelings.
He knows what he did was wrong that's why he keep on saying I know you are angry with me, I lost my rights, I failed to take care of you. But his ego & his thought that sai also wronged him is not allowing him to admit.
Yes indifference would have been perfect. Even him getting angry at Sai for stopping his transfer , I was fine with and he could have fought with her and asked her to mind her own business since they have no relationship. That would have been a perfect response. But the moment he let Pakhi take over who he know hates Sai and taunt and insult her he started falling down as a character.
And yes the dream Clearly showed he knows what he did was wrong, but there has been no follow-up scene after that which is weird writing

He would have given same explanation to sonali too had she was in pakhi place. He don't care about what pakhi does actually. For him pakhi chapter is over, he told her to move on so he doesn't care if she still loves him or not as he said he can't control pakhi actions( as he said in hospital). He is not realising him allowing pakhi in ther personal life is wrong. Pakhi boost his ego by always supporting him during his fights with sai so he won't be harsh on people who support him however their intentions may be. He is a self centred person who can't think anything beyond his emotions.

@bold This is true and not true at the same time due to inconsistent writing. Sometimes he goes above and beyond his hurt to get through to Sai and make her understand even ignoring her hurtful comments and sometimes it's exact opposite
I too didn't felt any crush feeling in sai for virat. Most of the times she used to be angry with him. Even after virat granted aaba tranfer she behaved same with virat. @bold there you said it 👏. He is guilty but won't accept it since Sai has not apologized for what she said to him.
That's also about his emotions. Until anniversary he was patient with sai regarding his feelings & tried to make the relationship work with the hope that sai will recipocrate him. After anniversary he was sure that sai won't love him back so behaved insanely. This is my understanding of his character though writers badly mess up with him & make him inconsistent😒.

But yes I am sure about one thing that she was never interested in virat or had a crush on him,as she has no ideas or never felt these feelings.To her he was her aaba's senior who needs to grant his VRS.
If you look at the Kannada version ,there you will be able to see how their Sai's character has a crush on Virat's Character and how she behaves there ,which is totally in Contrast with Sai's behavior in this version.
Infact after marriage she was not into virat so much ,I guess it was from Alta scene she started getting attracted to him.

Not really.. Virat is the first gentle man whom she met may be in her entire man apart from her Aaba.. This is why she looked little bit hurt when Virat mentioned about his two days yoga lob..

That's what I am saying that there was no attraction like we see in ITV ,but yes as I mentioned she was impressed and trusted him as he was introduced in that track as a gentleman, respectful and understanding (sadly it has been ruined now ,thanks to cvs).
Sai did trust him after her aaba,hence she listened to him but she was never into him like Pakhi as she had a lot on her plate.
