I liked it the way it was before.

Giving two books sometimes is okay, but every month is too much and puts me off from reading both of them.

I get your point and I agree to it to a large extent as well. It’s just that when there are hardly any people around you try out different stuff hoping to bring in more people - some things work, some don’t.
The idea of having to choose between 2 books was intended for getting more people to read at least one of two books. I wanted it to try it for alternate months but since this month’s original pick was a horror (a genre which I didn’t think many would want to read, I decided to add a more conventional pick).

For next month, it’s just one book, same for the month of December - just one book.

Hinna, I get the feeling that you can be a little too critical of some things I do here - be it the choice of books or trying out something new.
You are not obligated to like everything, but it can be a little discouraging at times.

I am really sort if I hurt your feelings. My intention was not to discourage you at all. I was just giving my opinion. I honestly felt that the old way was better and more encouraging for members to read together, as reading different books kind of discourages participation and discussion. Others may feel differently and I am not forcing anyone to agree with me here. Its just how I feel. In the end its your call.

I started Beautiful World already. If I finish it on time, then I may read The Outsider too. Also we have read a horror book by Stephen King together last Halloween too, hence I wanted to read something different. But I will definitely try it out if I get time this month.

It’s fine Hinna, I know you would not do it intentionally. It just seemed that way a few times.
I get your point of view totally. I was trying out this way to get more people to come in by giving an option in genres to read. I anyway intended to try the two books thing just once more (maybe in January), but I think I shall keep it for later.

That’s fast. I haven’t started either of the books and I can’t even decide what I want to read. At the beginning of the month I am so confused about what to pick up - should I stick to the list of books I’ve made or go by my mood.

Since I am relatively free for the next few days I think I will be a little more active here.

Some questions -

Q. Where do you get your book recommendations from?

Q. What is more important to you in a book - plot or characters?

Q. Do you read with music or white noise playing in the background or do need absolute silence?

Q. Share your favourite bookstagram or booktube account (if you have one).

I decided for now that I wont read The Outsider because I has some spoilers from the Bill Hodges trilogy. So ill read that first before I get to this one.

Hope whoever is still around is doing well. I’ve been
a little under the weather mentally and physically so haven’t finished a book in the last 20 odd days even though I started one. I want to finish at least one book by the end of the month, let’s see if it happens.

I think next month will be the last month for the bookclub since there is hardly anyone around any longer. I might restart the book club after a few months, but for now I guess November will be the last month.
Thank you to everyone who has stuck around to contribute and share over here. This thread will still be open for bookish discussions which don’t need to stop irrespective of whether there is a bookclub or not.

Thank you Anam (hope you are better now) for taking initiative to create the book club.. I have read a lot of great books like Where the Crawdads Sing, Rebecca, Vicious, Radio Silence, Mexican Gothic etc because of this book club and loved discussing with you all.❤️ I have exams coming up and I will be extremely busy for the next few months so won't be active here at all.

Take care everyone! 🤗

Sorry for being MIA for so long girls. I hope everyone is doing well.😊

@Anam: I hope you're feeling better now. I haven't read a lot in the past months either. I've mostly been reading shorter books, although I have to say, I've read some good ones this year. Also, thanks a lot for creating this book club. I really enjoyed my time with you all and my reading has improved so much (I read almost double the books this year to what I usually did when reading alone). Not just that but it made me read and love books that I totally would've skipped if left to my own choice. I have been extremely busy the last month and will be in the next few months too, but I really hope that this little readers' band of ours can come together again soon.❤️
