Absolutely ❤️ It should be treated like alcohol - with caution and precaution. Grown ups should be allowed to choose whether they want to consume it. It’s not like they won’t find an illegal way if they are so inclined.

Black marketing should be banned. The state can use the revenue it will earn through taxation for a better purpose than harassing celebrities.

I am glad you mentioned prescription opiods. A lot of them are more gentle than traditional painkillers. An older woman suffering from pain in my locality was using it to sleep better. She told me it improved her quality of life in her golden years. These things are so important from a medicinal perspective.

I want weed to be regularized. People should not be allowed to drive or doing any activity which harms themselves or others after consumption. Sales should be regulated. All the black marketing sales should be banned.

PS: I was once given prescription opioids pain killer once by doctor. It relived the pain really easily and I slept comfortably. It does relaxes you well. The pain killer given to me earlier literally gave me a headache for a week.

I understand why people take weed. But I would not suggest it to anyone who has an addiction or suffering from any psychiatric or psychological issues. It is deadly even for anyone with severe disease.

I can't say much about legalizing... kardena chaiye it will pss-off America and I will be happy about it..

It’s legal through much of America already.

OTOH, India should legalize it since it only criminalized it in 1985 to appease American blackmail so there is that😆

Weed is not and has never been a ‘gateway’ drug - that was Reagan era propaganda. Tobacco is far more addictive and more harmful to health but cigarettes aren’t the ‘gateway’ to cocaine. The only way weed could be a gateway is by associating with the criminals who deal it and the psychological barrier of “crossing” into illegal behavior and both are solved by decriminalization. Oh and why was the less harmful plant vilified and the more harmful one not? Which one made trillions of dollars worldwide for American corporations? Unfettered capitalism at its finest.

I have never smoked anything. (My father was a chain smoker who died a horrific death from lung cancer when I was 16 - I swore I’d never smoke and I never have) I am not pro-weed but I am very anti anti-weed. The aftereffects of criminalizing it for society and individuals is so much worse. I do think drugs need to be controlled and regulated but more important is treating drug dependence and the underlying issues that make some susceptible to drug use. If you cant reduce the demand you will never get rid of the supply. People will do anything for enough money - it doesn’t matter how hard or dangerous, it doesn’t matter if execution is the penalty if caught if there is enough money involved someone will take the risk of supplying it. And the higher the penalties and the more money involved the more ruthless and violent the criminals will be to avoid capture and other criminal’s interference.

You sound a lot knowledgeable on this topic. I am really sorry to know about your Dad ❤️ I hate the very smell of cigarettes. As a child, I used to come home to that disgusting smell and my parents fighting. But I can’t even imagine the hurt and pain you must feel with it.

I am curious to know more about the 1985 point you have mentioned. What do you mean by American blackmail?

You make very sound points when you say weed isn’t a gateway drug. Decriminalisation can make weed 100% safe to use, while taking away the power to peddle it from criminals. All the while, it can make the government a neat amount of money through taxation - the kind it makes through liquor and tobacco taxes. It also cuts through the psychological and sociological barrier in taking weed. A person won’t have to feel like the “bad guy/girl” for consuming it, making them far less likely to explore riskier avenues.

And people do want this option to consume it like an adult. Just like the government gives adults the freedom to consume liquor responsibly, they should allow them to make the choice to consume weed in regulated amounts.

It was Reagan era War on Drugs. Rajiv Gandhi passed the NDPS to appease the U.S. They included parts of marijuana in it but not the parts which go into bhang. All of marijuana was legal in India until then.

Ah, thanks for sharing this info ❤️

I wish outdated laws like this would be changed asap. But right now, they look like weapons in the hands of the politicians to make actors toe their line.
