It is not limited to India, Bollywood, or the '70s. Patriarchy is a factor, but sometimes the issues at hand are far more complex. Some women stick by their husbands due to patriarchal pressures. But some women stick by their husbands because they seek factors other than fidelity in their marriage.
I always wonder how women even tolerate such things. Is it because they r no more emotionally invested in the relationship and r content with being just part of family .
