This is going to be one long rant because it is really annoying to find threads getting closed where 15-30 odd people might be chatting in a very civil manner following forum rules for 3-4 odd members who might be into an heated argument with unnecessary words. This totally spoils the experience for other forum members who are just in to spend some time of their day on something they like to discuss.
Most people in this forum are very civil in their interactions even if there is a difference of opinion. It is only a matter of approach and words being used that cascade into unwanted arguments that get unnecessarily personal.
Nobody in general insinuates literally that any character is a Prostitute or anything like that at large, if they do use words that are highly unacceptable and if somebody points if out to them most people in this forum rectify and edit their posts if they find it justified. If inspite of that some words are used that are totally unacceptable, there is always the option to report to mods. Constantly generalising and shaming fellow members for a difference of opinion is unwarranted. Right now there is a general anger towards the showrunners for being the No 2 show on TV yet generalising all forms of abuse, family members shown in the show have openly stated that the actions of the ML are domestic abuse and mental harassment. Some people may feel strongly about issues being trivialised based on their personal experiences and some others might not, it is a personal call. Using equally demeaning words for another character does not make an eye for an eye type of context. Shaming is shaming, full stop.
As for this huge debate over the character of Patralekha...the character has openly mouthed dialogues that clearly say she's ready to go to any lengths to have any existence as a lover in her ex and current devar's life. She is married, shows absolute disregard for the sanctity of marriage, openly shows actions and mouths words that indicate that she does not have a moment's forethought for going ahead with cheating. She is pretending to be accepting and falling for one brother so that the other realises his lost love for her. This is not even grey, this is very dark territory. Highly disturbing for many.
Yet calling her a prostitute or other similar names is unacceptable, I agree with this viewpoint but then some words will be used to articulate emotions by forum member's as well! Somebody might politely state it as wanting an EMA/ emotional cheating/Manipulation and some others may go for Devar ki Pyaasi or whatever they relate with based on their preferences of words and language. As long as we can agree to disagree and articulate politely we can all co-exist.
This show completes a year tomorrow & it is really sad to see the state of this forum. Love or hate, every actor & crew member in any show make the show whatever it is!
Apologies for the long blabber.
