Majorly it's all the hype.

This drama is typical story of cousin rivalry and cousin marriage but in kinda different way with fresh cast.

Umera Ahmed has to change her ways of drama writing

The gheesa Peeta stuff which used to run before won't work now as audience has increased globally and taste has also changed

I m glad Usman made an effort to make Aswad less toxic .....otherwise this drama would have been even more unwatchable

I agree. But I wonder why did they pick this novel as it looks really outdated. A talented woman shouldn't accept an uncaring person as a life partner no matter how disturbed her persona is. Also Aswad's toxity doesn't go well with his past since he is an educated person who comes from a good family and he was rised by a caring mom.

I think Umera's strength is the way she makes us feel for her characters and their inner turmoil and complexities, be it Dur-e-shahwar or Daam or ZGH or Malaal or any show of hers for that matter. I know people call this show elite Jalan edition or something, but its not fair I feel. Even Mehreen is not a completely positive character - I love her grey shades too. I liked what Kubra said - that in this show the positive lead is not an angel and the negative lead is not a complete devil. They all are product of their circumstances. In India, we dont stay with our cousins 24/7 hence we may not be able to fully comprehend the level of psychological damage caused to Mehreen-Mashal, but imagine living with someone everyday and being compared to her 24/7, or being emotionally abused all day long about deceased father and treated like garbage. It can screw up anyone bad.

24×7 ke saath , years of emotional abuse ..both the girls have been subjected to extreme kinds of abuse..mashal was compared to mehreen and put down upon by her own parents and mashal took it out on mehreen. Mehreen suffered from all sides..her parents , mashal and her family and aswad too. It's easy to say that mehreen shouldn't have said yes to aswad. She told us why she did it. Coz even if she said yes to saffan, mashal would try to get saffan so that mehreen suffers. So she did it to get bk at mashal . Mehreen has shades let's not forget.

Sibling rivalry is common but this show is far far far better than jalan in terms of treatment. Nishas actions were based on greed not even jealousy . she was not like, I want to have what my sister has. If her sister was married to someone poor nisha wouldn't look at her again..

There was another show on sibling rivalry "maat". Again, the heroines actions stemmed from selfishness and greed. There is a lot of difference.

Mashals actions come from deep psychological issues for which her parents were also responsible. Mashal turned into a sadist whose sole aim was to hurt mehreen.

The only best thing about this drama is that their is not white or black characters. There are grey characters. And grey characters are very rarely shown on tv.

What a boring episode, I mean move on already. Yes, we know Mehreen is helpless, Aswad thinks she killed Mashal and Mashal’s family wants her hanged.

What a genuinely good guy Safwan is, I mean how come Mehreen contemplates even marrying Aswad when she has this gem of a guy? In the novel Asfand AKA Safwan left Mehreen because Mashal created some misunderstandings between them but here he is so supporting that it just doesn’t make any sense.

The pace of the show has gone so slow and I am now irritated with the constant sad faces and the melancholic bgm. I hope they finish this track of who dunnit fast because even it’s premise is laughable that just gulping down pills proves Mehreen killed her. Anyways from the next episode promo it does not seem so that story would progress much in that either 😡

Absolutely no new developments in today’s episode. I was hoping we’d find out what happened to the dog. Seems like next week’s episode will be full of rona dhona too. The irritating policeman seems to be getting a clearer picture of what’s going on though. I’m guessing his investigation will eventually lead to Mehreen’s acquittal.

Safi is such a gem. I’m still hoping against hope that Mehreen and Safi end up together. During her time of need, it was only him that helped her.

I can’t bear Aswad. Mehreen’s in jail for heaven’s sake, and he’s still sl*t-shaming her because a male friend is helping her with her bail. His characterisation is also so inconsistent. He keeps accusing Mehreen of murder, then goes to Mashal’s parents and says she may have died of suicide.

This show is moving along at a snail’s pace. Good actors, BGM and, stylistic framing of shots mean little when nothing of substance happens in an episode.

I’m glad the police officer didn’t have much to say in today’s episode.

Nothing happened in today’s epoiside. Shabbo has something to do Mashals death, either she mistakenly mixed up the poisoned food or something else, so she’s covering her butt.
