I agree that it is extremely important for both of them to have individual careers - many of us have mentioned that here earlier as well. That is the only way to sustainable long term success. One can only hope that in addition to Octopus, they are actively looking out for individual opportunities as well. Personally, I am disappointed with the turn of events for both Arunita and Pawan. I would have preferred them to work towards individual success even if it means high hurdles and failure. This way one is never sure who clicks or if they click only together. I suppose you could build a career as a duo but that requires another kind of fandom. The mainly active fan clubs left today are that kind of fandom. This thread is not that kind. It will die a death far quicker than expected if the trend continues and one by one all true Arunita only fans leave. It will be replaced by a Aru_PD fan club (one actually existed here). I think there is a need to start another one and leave this one to Arunita.

What we should share here or not is another thing but for what is written in Red..a big No.. rather she swims with proper gear till she learns to swim by herself..that's how everyone learns..sinking isn't n option.

And it's not only Aru who is benefitting.. its mutual.. Pawan needs her as much as she needs him professionally at present..at least to stay in news.

Let's agree to disagree. Crutches are for the handicapped in my book. I have real fear that she will be unable to establish herself as an independent singer based on the apparent path she has taken. Smp is the same age and is on a better path in my mind. Nothing anyone says alters that for me. So it is just my opinion. Like others I hope I am wrong.

I don't think "no more working together" is good idea either - but having an independent career is definitely important.

Look, I am an armchair critic with zip knowledge about music. I can only try and read what is happening based on what those who dip their hands in their pockets do.

HR is a born businessman and no one can say he does not understand Bollywood music. He has given solos to almost everyone but duets to these two. So he must have bet that they are stronger together than as individuals. Octopus took the same leaf out of the book. Sony did the same in BLAH2 and SD4. Soon they will be bracketed as duet singers by industry which loves bracketing. It will hurt both much more than a struggle at this stage of their lives.

Like I said, every passing day makes things worse. This way Arunita may not even have a regional market left to fall back on.

I see no hope of this ending soon. Too much financial risk is at stake for at least Arunita. She has to get a solo break from somewhere. I don't see it coming for her though. She won't even get solo shows in Bengal because she has no time to pay attention to that market now.

I wonder if she has "taken" this path of it is just the way the cookie has crumbled for her. She probably got into the Octopus contract because one has to take opportunities that come along. She may have hoped other opportunities will come along too, but unfortunately it seems so far that other opportunities haven't materialized. Maybe something will, soon. Maybe Joy Sarkar will give her a few more songs in Bangla, maybe Shantanu Moitra will give something in Hindi. Maybe Karan Johar will keep his promise, maybe it is Madhur Bhandarkar.

That's a rather bleak scenario you are painting there. Hard to disagree with what you have said based on what we are seeing, but boy! do I hope you are wrong!!
