Some big timers charge Rs 30 Lacs for wedding gigs.

Charges are for the duration of performance usually, though people like Shreya charge by song. Which is why Rosario is upset that the duo performed for over an hour extra. He is trying to laugh it off, but it is poor business.

All concerts include fully paid travel for singer and band (if they come with singer) and all hotel/local transportation. This is over and above the charges.

Female singers usually command a lower rate. (That is not new in industry). #

Sony likely charges different rates for different artists as per industry practice. For shows like UK/USA etc they charge one bulk rate and singers get paid as per their contract. So if PD gets 100, Aru will get 70 and even Danish may get 70, if not 80. Solo shows are different.

SMP would have to pay for Ratnamala's air ticket and double room extra. Rest are not charged to her,

She possibly makes enough to afford the above.

I would guess, and this is a guess without proper information, that at this stage of their life they get 30-50K for each performance like the one you are discussing and maybe 1Lac for a solo gig. Talent Next gets a fat commission because they do the price negotiation. So actual cost per singer to the organizers would be much more.

Thank you for the insights. So they must be earning 2-3 lac per month since Idol ended(pre-tax). Not bad at all for a 18-25 year olds..

It is always good to take the more optimistic outlook, but if we go with lower estimates then post tax and mother costs (which may not be tax deductible) some make much less. If SMP gets, say Rs. 50K a solo gig post Rosario, Then she pays 10K for mum travel/hotel and 10K to the taxman. If she does 3 solos/month then she makes about 30K x 3 = Rs. 1L maybe. If they average 10 solo shows /year then they are top rung performers.

The real money is in international shows. That is big buck earnings.

Hopefully it changes after Indian Idol 12 ! After all, the three girls were(are) way much better than the guys. results not withstanding!!

Thanks for the insights. As always they are very useful. Now I understood why Sony made sure SMP is bound by their contract.

To be fair to them, she has been busy in Hyderabad and not present in Mumbai.
