I just wanted to write these few lines to admit how wrong I was in judging/evaluating Arunita Kanjilal. I always prided my ability to judge people and much of my respect from peers was earned from that.
But this sleepy, seemingly obdurate, moody, friendless, and slow-to respond girl from a one horse town has completely made a fool of me with her determination and consequent actions post Indian Idol.

I had fully expected her to return to Bongaon and sulk her time away till breaks came her way.
But she wants to succeed in Mumbai. And she has posted her stake in the ground so firmly that it is screaming to the world.

From sending Dad home, to arranging for a professional escort/minder, to being in the limelight with the help of others - it is amazing what a 18 year old runner-up of Idol has achieved in a month's time.

I am really happy that I was proved wrong. If she can maintain her focus she may well achieve what she wants. The right to stay permanently in Mumbai to pursue her career
