You know, I did find it more Anokhi's fault but then you correctly pointed out that it was day 1 and day 1 students are always lost. I remember my college days and I could not understand anything. Professors are uaually kinder on day 1.

You must be a really nice prof, mine were more on the lines of Shaurya

This episode was a set up for future ShaKhi interactions:

1. Shaurya in his own way is looking out for Anokhi, but not getting the credit. Knowing Anokhi is without footwear, Shaurya informs Shaan of her dilemma. Shaan corrects it with the help of Ravi. Ravi credits Shaan so obviously Anokhi does too. Again, everyone is a credit chor🤣. And Anokhi's mind isn't willing to credit Shaurya for good deeds. Instead of thinking that maybe Shaurya told Shaan since he witnessed the shoe breaking, she immediately assumes Shaan must have just seen her and helped her. I'm not saying she's wrong, it's just interesting. Lots of credit chor's for sure! Also, I thinks its hard for Anokhi to believe that someone as aggressive as Shaurya (towards her atleast) would care two hoots for her! ( credits goes to all the trauma from father). She is used to aggressive men not caring for her.

2. Shaurya's facade! Shaan mentions Shaurya's inability to voice his feelings, "Jo kuch bhi tumhare mann me hai na, kabhi tum usse zahir nahi hone dete". In the future, post rustication, Shaurya also admits his inability to voice his feelings to Anokhi and sometimes people just have to understand him. Shaurya doesn't share because he thinks it doesn't matter to anyone. This insecure feeling follows him into his relationship with Anokhi. Two points here...does shaan know shaurya? and if he does why does he not SHOW HIS SON THAT HE KNOWS! Also, you put across his issue with being expressive beautifully. Also, he never told anokhi verbally that he loves her untill much later, she understood it way before he said it. I also feel this comes from Shaan. Shaan is also never able to speak his mind out (reasons might differ)

3. "Mere Shaurya bhaiyya sirf ek pari ke kismat main likha hai" Bebo says this as Shakhi's kismat collide! This was in response to Shaurya Sabherwal's college fangirls thirsting over him "Physics, Chemistry, Maths sab padh sakti hoon, agar Shaurya sir padhaye to". I like when this comes back again during their haldi phone call. Anokhi is aware that girls drool over Shaurya. One comment that was interesting was when one girl says "if only he wasn't our teacher", so the taboo of professor and student not crossing the line is mentioned in passing, but never really explored in the show. Ooooo...even i noticed this in the rewatch only and it was cute! I think a lot was not explored because of the sociatal taboo in ITV and also that they were never given time!

4. Between Anokhi coming to class late and then talking in class, Shaurya has formed an opinion of Anokhi as a person. A rule breaker. Someone who ignores the carefully crafted prospectus of his precious institution. He also tells her she makes excuses for her behavior, then complains, then takes someone's help. These are the seeds of the anger and jealousy laced future tirade that happens in the library. His opinion of Anokhi is coloured with anger. But he is right, if you notice Anokhi has a cycle with every problem...she fights, she fails, she fights again, she fails, she runs and then someone saves her. So he is only partially wrong about her.

5. Shaurya kicked Anokhi out of class for the first time, with a simple "get out!". Shaurya hates being ignored in his fiefdom. It's interesting that he let the sleeping student stay, but the one who talked in his class and ignored him gets kicked out. I think it's because the guy was quick to apologize. Anokhi on the other hand felt the need to make Shaurya understand. Shaurya was very curt, but also correct in saying "Apni galti ko maana seekho". I don't know if Anokhi ever really learned that lesson. Anokhi argued. You dont do that to a professor when caught talking. Yes she was asking for notes but she was talking in class. She should have started with a proper apology. Plus she ended up blaming him ... WHAT?! Also notice, she made it personal. She crossed a line with that conversation they had after the class. You DO NOT talk to a professor like that. I honestly think its because as much as they have ment in college, they have interacted equally on personal grounds. Something draws them to the same point!

Side note:

~ Reema and Anokhi's friendship begins!! I love a healthy female friendship, full of support and devoid of jealousy! Always!

~ I admire Anokhi's commitment to her education. Standing outside the class and taking notes FTW!! totally, i would have gone to my room and slept.

~ Kanchan is such a Aastha fan! I can't stand that Shaan said Aastha was a woman of 'great character' and that she had principles and never did anything wrong. They royally ignore her worst mistake in life! Where Shaurya is concerned, she chose wrong! It's a whitewashing of her character to ignore that flaw. We find it hard in ITV to fault "good" women characters for being at fault. They have to be all good or all bad! Saint or vamp! No in between!

Life's been a little hectic. I try to watch the episode and write a small review everyday, but I've been bad at replying. So sorry about that!! I'll get better once the weekend rolls around........I think!😛

Also, this one was so beautifully written by you!

It makes sense that you wouldn't be allowed to teach your own family member; to avoid favoritism.

It's funny that your semester is ending. My year just began. Fall semester is September to December; Spring semester is January to April. I also teach Summer semester May to August! It feels never ending sometimes!

It is never ending indeed. In fact because of covid there were lots of changes otherwise we usually start in August until December then January to May.

Instead of summer we have winter break in June. But now all calendars have changed because results for high school will be late from Cambridge.

@bold: This is so sweet of you to say. I'm so excited that we're doing the rewatch and review. And seeing everyone's review motivates me to watch the episodes fully again. Some of these scenes I used to skip over when rewatching episodes before.

I don't understand Shaan at all. I used to think it was cute that he attributes Shaurya's personality and his positive traits to Aastha. But in the rewatch, I've started to feel like he's absolving himself of his mistakes. Shaan and Shaurya's relationship was never a full parent child relationship.

As for Shaurya's confession, if it was not for covid lockdown and the move to Goa, I don't think it would have happened so fast. I think he would have stayed true to his suppressed personality for a little bit longer.

Anokhi is so righteous that she doesn't understand that for order, we have to respect some norms. I wonder if she would be that disrespectful in her Aastha ma'am's classroom? You're right that because their first meetings were more personal, their interactions are not the norm for a professor and student. Shaurya even keeps the façade of professionalism with his sisters calling him 'sir' instead of 'bhaiyya'. He calls Tej 'sir' on campus instead of 'Bade papa'.

I was a dedicated student, but if I was kicked out of class, I would've gone back to my dorm too and just gotten the notes from another student.
