As her Raataan Lambiyan cover on IG inexorably heads towards 2M views in 2 days, I tried to compare how successful the upload was in comparison to song posts on IG by celebrity Bollywood singers.

I was surprised. Only a handful of top top popular stars achieve this kind of views on their music uploads. Some do better, hitting 3M+ from time to time but the vast majority barely cross 1M!

Admitted this is the song of the moment. But she sings it a cappella!!!

I am trying to put perspective to this staggering response for a 18 year old aspiring singer who was not even crowned as an Idol!

IG is one frontier, the bigger frontier is YouTube. She needs to focus on that frontier with proper covers or new solos to explore the response in that media. Mobile uploads just don't cut it there. If she can prevail in YT then she becomes really an investible entity in the music world of India. I hope she tries it out soon to test the waters.

That's probably one area where she can learn from PD's experience. There are a good number of covers and mashups that PD has posted, with Playhead Music especially. Maybe he knows what worked for him, or what he did wrong - some have crossed a million views, some haven't.

Agreed. Aru needs to focus on YouTube too.

Her fan page channel on YouTube (by a poster in this AT) has more subscribers than her official channel
