So here's more over-analysis.

Some people have wondered why only 3 people were in the cab to the airport in Sayli's story.

Now that it seems PD also took the flight with them, my guess is that they had to split 3-2 because the cab could take 4 passengers. And sending AK - PD in one cab would have broken the internet and put unnecessary (and totally avoidable) pressure on them. That is why Sayli-Danish-Arunita in 1 cab, and Pawandeep - SMP in the other.

I find it quite interesting that Bangla and a few other languages in the South continue to use very pure words. For example the reference to "prem prastaav" for marriage proposals / expression of love in this interview.

I wonder if it is my urban upbringing but in my friends / family we use so many English terms liberally even when we are conversing in our mother tongue.

Pure written Bengali is heavily influenced by Sanskrit. many southern languages also share the same trait. There are many words (in pure written text) in use in the south that if spoken slowly can be understood by educated Bengalis. So, the linkage exists.

Yes I am aware of that, having lived in different parts of India. My reference was more to conversational usage.

Therein lies the interesting part. If you are educated and you are formal, then in Bengal you use almost pure written language in communication. I don't know about other Indian languages but Bengali has three levels of attachment in conversation.
For the Hindi word "Aap", if someone is formal in Bengali then the word is "Apni". All communication can be formal thereafter. If the word is "Tumi", then there is less formality and conversation can be colloquial or semi formal. If the word used is "tui", then the communication can be very informal and the language colloquial.

I knew about these 3 usages (aami ektu ektu bujhte paadi) and similar constructs exist in other languages too.

Anyway I am belabouring the point and using up my post limit of 20. I think we get each other's point. Once this post limit goes (after another 100-odd posts) we can have lengthy discussion and debate 😊
