Pallavi - A lost character

Hello friends, after yesterday,s epi many of us having a problem with the way of makers showing pallavi,s character. swapnil/ raghav ke sath usne jaise behave kiya with knife mandar ki cheap harkaton pe waisa nahi kiya uske dialogues uska behaviour kuch samjh nahi ata.

But this is not new for me after marriage uske kehne aur karne me huge difference hai for ex on the day of marriage wo raghav ki barbadi ki baat karti hai but after reception nothing. Ok after knowing that jaya is the reason behind forced marriage she forgave raghav but what about her character assasination by raghav? Pehle use fever ho gaya to usne kuch nahi kiya but after that comb scene me koi sadness ya gussa nahi tha family to door pehle hi thi but breakdown raghav ke sach janne ke baad untill then she behaves normally jaya ko rokte time raghav ko sudharne ka promise kiya phir kolhapur jane ka decision liya if she was taking marriage seriously then why? she was wearing ms and sindoor also. jaya ke forced marriage ka sach janne ke baad bhi ja sakti thi.

Phir raghav ko 30 days ka chance diya theek hai but after two days she called him bechara then vd aur raghav ki fight ke baad amruta aur milind ki baat sunkar raghav ko mirchi wala dinner khilaya aur baad me vd ke gusse ka reason de kar raghav ko maaf bhi kar diya milind ne use fight ka reason to bataya hoga na but usne raghav se is ke bare me koi baat nahi ki mirchi wale childish act se acha to baat kar leti

Phir bahut kuch hua aur usko raghav pe trust ho gaya she developed feelings for him aur usne raghav ke sath rehne ka decision liya she accepted him as her husband but room or bed sharing ke time she started crying bcs usne life me kisi ke sath room share nahi kiya tha but I want to know that if mandar was alive to wo uske sath bhi room bed share karti ya usne raghav ko accept hi nahi kiya tha as husband aur at night she covered herself with blanket phir after one day when raghav slept over her tummy she had no problem. she felt happy about it

after that uski raghav ke liye feelings increase hoti gayi but love realisation krishna ne karaya why? Jab usne raghav ko kaha tha use mandar se pyar nahi tha to pyar ki koi to defination hogi uske liye I mean she knew pyar Kya hai uske liye jo use mandar ke liye feel nahi hua but jab raghav ke sath feel hua then she didn,t understand.

And nail incident wale epi me she wore that black dress and allow raghav to kiss her without love realisation ?koi awkward feel nahi kiya aur phir wo smile kar rahi thi hospital me bhi kiss ke flashbacks a rahe the use phir bhi use love realisation nahi hua I dont understand.

iske baad mandar track me to sabhi ko pallavi ka behavior samjh nahi a raha uske words uske actions se match hi nahi hote jab raghav ne vd ko pair dhone ke liye kaha to use bura laga but baad me raghav se iske bare me kuch nahi kaha pallavi ke behavior me continuity hai hi nahi.

These are my views about pallavi I know may be you all are disagree with me but that is what my thinking.

Please share your views and try to answer my questions.

Sadly, this is how this show's writers see romance and marriage. Romance is when one person harasses and terrorizes the other, who displays doe-eyed courage and humanity in response, and they have eyelocks and adventures and tender moments to show how their connection transcends normal human feelings. Marriage is sacred and conducive to intimacy, no matter how it is contrived. Thus, while Pallavi's pendulum swings between deep hurt and loving trust, Raghav's pendulum swings between ribald mischief and drunken self-sacrifice, and their marriage jolts along from milestone to milestone.

As a parallel, Sulochana has defamed Raghav for allegedly impregnating Pallavi, violated his sister's decency and defamed her and his mother, falsely accused him of beating her, stolen from him and made him look guilty for sending his father-in-law to jail. And our doe-eyed Raghav has courageously put a gun to Sulochana's head and gestured that he thinks of shooting her, but he's too saṃskārī to act on it. Now, the silent and soulful cook has stirred up Sulochana's sympathies, bringing her caring and selfless nature to the surface, and she is learning sign language just for him. So, clearly, they are meant to be together, as their cutesy nicknames prove: Baḍā Bindī + Hot Cāya = Baḍā Hot.

As soon as Raghav and Pallavi are divorced, and Milind is presumed dead, the sanctity of a contrived marriage between Raghav and Sulochana will allow them to explore their passionate love-hate relationship in all its glory.

I don’t want to comment on your post as a whole .. but if nobody minds I want to say something regarding the attempt to kiss before that nail incident…

physical intimacy and love confession are two different things

Has anybody heard about Udaariyan (I haven’t watched the show but heard about it so I might be wrong)

ML sleeps with his wife and feel guilty because he is still in love with his ex-gf/sister of current wife…

this implies they consummated their marriage without love confession.. and he wasn’t even drunk .. it happened in heat of the moment…

so drawing a parallel from this

and also the fact that Raghav-Pallavi are already married and physically comfortable around each other…

they really wanted to give a chance to their relationship which is what Pallavi said in just a scene before this nail incident that now that she got closure on her past … she wants to move forward with him..

he brought a gift for her because he wanted to see her in a different attire than saree .. she went, changed and came all dressed up though she was ready to sleep in her night dress before.. you can take it as a date…

in current times sometimes people do kiss during dates…

even if they decide to consummate their marriage before love confession… in reality its nothing odd … (I have been told by my married friends who are in an arranged marriage that they consummated but not in love per say… they fell in love much later)

since we take it as a show and a romantic love story … we want everything in proper order … phle love ho fir love confession ho fir consummation but real me aisa hota ni h…

But I do agree wid the point abt real life arranged marriages. Happens a lot. People fall in love much later and some do not fall in love at all.

But for me that attempt at kiss felt a lil out of nowhere. Raghav hadnt even tried to get close to her before dt and he went for it all of a sudden....which kind of made Pallavi a lil hesitant. But I do get dt it was in the heat of the moment.

Let me start by saying that Pallavi as a character has always been extremely forgiving and understanding. She saved Raghav from the accident even when she believed he had jailed her that very day.

When she was forced to marry Raghav, she wanted to teach him a lesson but Pallavi's nature isn't like Raghav to take extreme steps to get her revenge. She pulled some pranks on him as a revenge (she would defend any attack done by Raghav but would not stoop to his level to take any revenge from him).

When she realised that Raghav married her and falsely accused her because of MMS misunderstanding, she asked him why didn't he check with her before presuming such a low thing about her. That is when she decided she wanted to leave from that house but assured to tell Jaya that she should stay back because Raghav fulfilled her condition of marrying Pallavi.

She gave Raghav another chance (because that's who Pallavi is) for 30 days as he asked - (he asked her to for the sake of her dead ex husband) since he also gave her a 30 day chance when she needed it.

During those 30 days, she saw the change in Raghav. She saw him make amends, she saw he was trying and had changed. She didn't want to put his efforts down and since he was right, she supported him in the necklace kand. Then, Raghav did what was not expected out of him. He agree to the twisted condition of VD by swallowing his self respect, he let her go to Kolhapur because he felt she didn't want to be in this marriage. By then, she had already forgiven him for all his earlier mistakes seeing his repentance (again that's who Pallavi is).

After agreeing to stay back, she knew she was in this marriage for life. She accepted Raghav as her husband and intimacy in marriage is but natural and would eventually happen. But considering she was never mentally prepared to marry Raghav, it took her time to open up to the prospect of having a normal marriage with him (read intimacy). If you compare this to Mandar, she had agreed to the marriage and was mentally prepared for it.

On the morning of the sleeping on stomach incident, it was clear she was flustered seeing him so close to her but she didn't reject the intimacy. In fact, she blushed because she realised it that she wanted it too. She desired her husband.

When Raghav gifted her the gown she knew what it would lead to and she was ready to be intimate with her husband that night. She agreed to allowing him to zip her dress. It wasn't just because he was her husband, it was because she wanted him to do it. Had it not been for that keel, their marriage would have been consummated that night.

Yes, I agree with you that Krishna wasn't needed for her love realisation. It should have come naturally like she always knew she fell for Raghav but this was done more for drama. Even the pyar vs farz track by the end of it seemed very superfluous.

I know why it is difficult for you to understand Pallavi. The makers fail to show her point of view most of the times and hence the audience lose connect with her. Hope I was able to help you understand her better.

Sonia, I'd like your views on Pallavi

Hi there. Thank you for the tag. I will try to put forth my views on the character of Pallavi. It might not answer your questions but it could give you a perspective.

Pallavi as per her initial characterisation was a simple family oriented girl, lived in a small town with her brother, completed her college & got into an arranged marriage with Mandar & came to Hyderabad. A no scruples, kind hearted, principled too, putting her family ties above herself. The husband died & she was overwhelmed by the D's decision to accept her to be the daughter of the family & live on with them. At this point she never returned to her brother but instead took up the livelihood of the D family & became a breadwinner. The respect she got from them was truly from the heart as far as Sharada, Nikhil & even Manasi initially, that is, but VD only as far as she fit into his so called ideals.

Now, coming to all the inconsistencies that you have raised which are all primarily due to the entry of Raghav in her life & later he became her husband. She did share a very warm bond with Raghav's mother & sister too. As a person itself she is way too kind hearted & trusting to go on a revenge spree, yes even against Raghav who terribly wronged her. Yes the dialogues given to her make her sound contradictory for her own good at times. She did sign the papers that Raghav got made for the shop transfer in her name. At that point in the story she hated him, did not trust him one bit but still she gave him the benefit of doubt, thought he had, had a change of heart & then went ahead & signed them too. That is who she is, believing in giving people a chance to reform! He went on a misplaced vengeance spree against her, not her fault. Similarly post marriage she had nothing against Jaya absolutely.

When Raghav learnt the truth, he started to change & tried what he could to patch her up with her family. Pallavi witnessed this & I feel it was during the course of these events plus after knowing his past that she started to develop feelings for him. So revenge is not her forte at all, second chances & opportunities for change is what she is!! The scripting & dialogues don't do justice to her.

As for physical intimacy, she never had any of that with Mandar, so no guilt attached to having been close to a partner before. It is but natural for her to feel physically attracted to Raghav, who is anyways very good looking & who is literally changing for her!! There would have been no problem even if she had consummated her marriage even before confessing. They are legally married consenting adults.

So this is the Pallavi who I liked before this disastrous track of Mandar started. I could understand her actions too.Yes, she had contradictions in speech & action then too, but not like how the writers have made her now. The writers butchered Pallavi's character terribly so that Mandar could be fit in. I will never forgive them for that!! Also, all the contradictions that you have raised is due to lazy scripting, inappropriate dialogues at times & not tying up loose ends to give proper closure to scenes.
