Is Ek Din a magic realism romance?

The way Shiva-Dhara have a universe of their own is so beautiful!

Even Gaumbi is not a stakeholder in their universe ❤️

So true I know a lot of people hate Dhara for various reasons
Dhara manipulates him but I can't help but love them and adore the affection that they share for each other

Auto Ride- Raavi riding on her dream vehicle
Splashing Mud- Calling Shiva not up to the mark
Shiva lashing out Shivi thing from childhood in frustration
Auto Wala is saying Sorry- Shiva’s expectation of acceptance.
Raavi is calling the police- Always trying to bring a complaint to a third party between them, be it Dhara or Gaumbi or her Maasi from childhood.
Shiva snatching phone- Wanting it always to be between them.
Raavi is reminding him to say sorry- Making Shiva respect her first so that they could move on.
Shiva refusing- Because he thinks there isn't any hope.
I like what they were, are or have become. It's senseless, but it's their world. The journey towards each other has multiple barriers-mental, physical and emotional. They are in different planes, and rightfully so.
REALITY
Completely incompatible couple! They should try to solve out by conversations or part ways.
FICTION
They bring contrast, dynamism and momentum because of such a huge divide amongst the two.
When the opposite worlds collide-there is madness!
I love your posts. They give me so much peace ❤️
I really really loved this analysis. It's so apt for ShiVi!

I'm not gonna lie, this scene made me melt just a tad bit. I'm still mad at her, probably will be forever but I can't forget that once upon a time, these two's platonic bond used to be one of my favorites. The vibes their bond used to exude was magical. It's not the same as before, and I don't think the makers can dig their way out of this, but this scene was nice.🥺
After watching today's episode, I feel like Krish should've been present towards the end just so he could say his "Gunda boyy!" line 😆
When I say I felt really bad for that auto driver, I mean it. Poor guy lol.
The rest of the episode was decent. Suman has been constantly grating on my nerves these days 🤔
Gaumbi taunting Shiva was fun (I'm still mad at him but I'll allow him this one because burning his bike was foolish 😆)
Yet I somehow still want him to get his bike because of all the boris he lifts and just for his hard work in general....annnnd because if he doesn't have one, then how will he give Raavi rides in the future? 🌝🤫🤣 I know I'm way too ahead of myself. I know the future seems bleak as of now but the shipper in me can't help it 🤪

I get where you are coming from, but Shiva has always had a special connection with Dhara! He was always like this around her. In fact, in the first scene itself, when Dhara was running 🏃 towards Gaumbi and the kite, we see a parallel of Shiva running towards her. Gautam has mentioned many times how only Dhara can control Shiva even before they got married.
The show always had Shiva hovering around her from childhood.
He must get the maximum time around Shiva. Like the Shivi universe, the Shira universe exists too. 😆
I get angsty and angry too, when she interferes in Shivi, but I love their solo scenes. The way he feels for her is so pure. The unfair Haq of Dhara on Shiva, and this insane dedication of Shiva towards her is mind-boggling. They remind me of Hamlet-Gertrude/Haider-Ghazala a lot!
I know we aren't on the same page but do watch their scenes in silos! There's something magical about them
I am keen to hear your thoughts more. 🤗
Tagging Esha too!
Thanks for tagging Piu 🤗 My thoughts pretty much mirror yours when it comes to this. I enjoy watching relationships and dynamics that go beyond the typical categories of romantic vs platonic. What Dhara and Shiva share is so hard to describe in words. I feel like they are soulmates but in a very non-cliched sense. Not how the word is usually used in canon.
Like you said, this journey was set from day one! Even without GauRa, these two would have found each other. It’s something Raavi and Gaumbi will never understand. I have written essays on them in the past 😆 Tho I have to admit the writers used to do a much better job with their scenes earlier… it used to be pure magic. Personally, I feel KD and Shiny light up the screen in ways no one else can on the show. Not even GauRa and ShiVi. They have an entirely different aura when standing in the same frame. Having said that, I still do enjoy their scenes. There are so many emotions that make up their scenes. Like you, I love their solo scenes. When it comes to GauRa and ShiVi, I don’t like them interfering or being mentioned in each other’s scenes. They share their own set of chemistry and aura.
I feel like Shiva and Dhara’s scenes always hold so much potential. It opens up the floor for discussion, debate and has so much depth… so much to analyze in every frame. My favorite scene will remain the hug right after Shiva forces Raavi to leave
I might not be as active on the forum anymore. But if you do make any new posts, please do tag me if possible! I would love to read them 🤗❤️

His huge arms around her tiny frame yet the amount of power she holds is astonishing and then there is the childlike expression on his face ❤️
Keeping everything else aside, this is so beautiful! This is something Gaumbi nor Raavi will ever be privy too. I couldn’t take my eyes away from this moment
Priorities, Timings & New chapters
Today’s episode was a step forward in stories & to shed light on these aspects of all 3 couples Lives.
New chapters of kid on the way, new work & unresolved uncertainty for Dhara, Rishita & Raavi.
Dhara has her priorities set, she is ready to start her new chapter & wants to focus on it- fair & good. Though, when Devta & ShiVi needed this focus on their New Chapter- Dhara made sure to not give them space & comfort. In haveli she could have let these two relationships blossom : devta is ok, but she knew ShiVi needed time. But, No. that time she was in her control freak mode & created chaos of batwara & alag rasoi & all!
Eventhough Dhara Shiva scene was good, I liked what she pointed about Raavi, it left an uneasy unanswered question as to if you saw affection why did you not nurture? Why did Dhara not give bit more tlc to Shiva & Raavi when otherwise likes to micromanage everything. Don’t interfere , but when you know your bachcha is acting up- atleast talk!
Again: missing conversations. This family’s mammoth problem.
Shiva’s priorities are all messed up. Remember Krish told Raavi: “if you don’t value yourself- no one else will”This fits perfectly for Shiva! He doesn’t value himself, so no one else does. A sad truth.
He only talks to Bhabhi- who has selective priorities & is closet partial towards Dev. So, his talks his thoughts are stuck within & come out as anger/ frustration/ jidd / ego at every given chance. Raavi’s verbal abuse adds to all of the above! And confusion about her feelings+unease about ‘compromise’.
He is not wrong. but his way of expressing this, his pent up emotions & aggressive reactions are troublesome. Needs help, which Bhabhima his only to go person failed to provide!
Timings: for Raavi & Shiva- his anger & reactions have wrong timing. Her choicest verbal abuse: janwar/ jungli etc etc has wrong timings! So this endless circle of MU continues. It is exhausting to watch. End this now please.
Gautam’s timings: his stand on bike issue is valid, but bhai: get a trolley/ tempo for your store! You very well know this is the only brother who is ‘working’ at this time.
You are busy in your pregnancy & helping wife , Krish has to study & Dev is pretty much doing nothing - chilling at home!
I didnot like Gautam's Indifference towards Shiva beyond the bike point. Again he is not 1/10th of harsh with Dev for all things he did!
Rishita ‘s timings: I always find her feminism Woke!
Wanting to work, good. Great. But one doesn’t become mahaan by just wanting to work outside.
Cooking- house chores are essential lifeskills & knowing the basics are must. For All genders alike.
Dev needed to know how to turn off gas at pressure cookers whistle. It is basic.
Rishita could have waited just a few days for things to settle down, they just got to know yesterday of Dhara’s pregnancy. Rishita could have applied for work after , say just a week!? Once maid/ other adjustments were in place?
And, who cooks after getting all ready for work? Sequencing dear, sequencing. Aise toh workplace pe bhi you will have problems.
Unnecessary gimmicks they show. And how dumb was Dev with his ‘help interview’ blah!! Iconic award level dialogue of question. And how dumb was Rishita’s answer- another attempt by creatives to show her character as family oriented! Naah.
I know people don’t like Suman & her attitude. Though she is not wrong in asking Rishita to help out a bit. Infact Everyone in the family should chip in. Why should just Dhara or anyone do all chores?
If all brothers step up to help, Suman will Understand. She is phast phast that way.
Raavi better start studies, else she is going to end up being unpaid maid - like how Shiva is unpaid worker store. Where as Dev will surf YouTube universities & Rishita will keep doing online shopping.
