Haan, she was still studying in college when he met and became friends with Malini, isiliye he remembers how she gets during exams and was comparing it to a similar stressful situation. Jojo, so true. How old he is does not matter to Imlie or to us, he is evergreen and looks hot even with salt & pepper hai (Future Back scene yaad hai PD mein).
