I liked him upto Teesri Manzil I think. Geeta's death really took a toll on him.

That was his first day of shoot when he returned after Geeta's death. The pain shows 😭

Shammi's songs have always been great. Being extremely musically minded himself, he was deeply involved in all of his recordings always insisting that he be present when they were done. In fact, he was known to have given several inputs during recording, and he and Rafi had this admirable understanding between them - the singer blended his voice into the actor's persona on screen so well that it was hard to tell it wasn't Shammi himself singing on screen!

There was an anecdote narrated by Shammi himself in his Shammi Kapoor Unplugged series when he spoke about how he was unable to attend one of his recordings - I think for 'Aasmaan se aaya farishta' due to another shoot in some other place, and the producer went ahead and scheduled the recording in his absence. Shammi was livid and asked him (I think it was Shakti Samanta) to scrap the recording and redo it in his presence but Samanta told him to just listen to it once and then decide. And Shammi did and was astounded, he found that it was perfect and there was not a single thing he needed to change! And when he asked Rafi how he did it, Rafi said something like - "I know at this point you would have done this, so i inflected my voice to reflect that." Truly they were so attuned!

Oh yes, beautiful movie and beautiful songs!

What's not to love about this song?

Though so many songs have my soul - I generally tend to pick Rafi songs over others, idk why..

I love Shammi. His innocence in the movies like Junglee, Kashmi Ki Kali and even Andaaz is to die for. ❤️

But I am with you about Dev Anand. Though Dilip Kumar is not far behind. It’s Rajkapoor who I feel didn’t deserve to be with the other two but is there anyway simply because of the kind of movies he did and the teams that he got to work with.

Hi-5! Not a fan of Raj Kapoor, his brothers were far better for me! And Dev and Dilip ftw anyday!

I think it was Rishi Kapoor who said his uncle (Shammi) was the real star in the family and I completely agree! ❤️

Though I did like him in earlier movies before he adopted the Chaplinesque persona.

Barsaat, Awara, and man, he was so suave in Chori Chori!

I guess he's better off as a filmmaker, though I'm not a huge fan of his RK directed films either
