Is there a mother in the real world who, having just discovered that her child is pretending to have forgotten her and every detail of his life, wouldn't ask, "Why are you being so cruel to your own family? Are you in danger? Tell me why you don't want us to know that you remember!"
I like Sharada as a mother to Pallavi, and I understand her concern that Mandar drugged Pallavi, but I never expected that her reaction to discovering a secret that Mandar kept from her would be to blackmail him for Pallavi's happiness. Sharada is an honest character, someone who wouldn't hesitate to tell Vijay, Nikhil, Milind etc. what they deserve to know about Mandar because they love him. Sharada wouldn't want her family to worry about Mandar if he's actually well, and she wouldn't offer to keep a secret that might risk the family's safety if Mandar is dangerous or in danger.
And how exactly does Mandar not remembering Pallavi give him a chance to steal her from Raghav? Wouldn't Mandar have a chance only if he could remind Pallavi of the life that they had planned together - world tour, business school, brand recognition etc.?
I am really disappointed that the supporting characters on this show are such non-entities now; they exist only to cheer for or against the lead couple. Farhad has always been a cheerleader, and I like him, but the rest?
- Why establish Kirti as a positive character (confidante of Pallavi, devoted daughter to Jaya, ashamed of Raghav and chafing under his intrusive surveillance, but willing to give him a chance for Jaya's sake), only to reduce Kirti to a cartoonish villain?
- Jaya's tragic relationship with Raghav was portrayed so movingly, until Pallavi flipped a switch so that Jaya no longer disapproves of anything that Raghav does. Wouldn't it be more dramatic if Raghav still had to prove himself, and succeeded?
- Why turn Manasi against Pallavi if Manasi does nothing? Why couldn't Manasi be Pallavi's fun-loving photographer friend who enjoys Raghav's company, while Krishna, who has seen Raghav's cruelty, could be the design-loving friend who worries about how Raghav's drinking affects Pallavi?
- Vijay's character had depth as a worried father whose objection to Raghav is that he disrespects women. Now Vijay is a one-dimensional bitter spoilsport for every scene, no reason needed to act out.
- Milind used to be a peacemaker and Sulochana was a troublemaker. Now Milind spits at his elder brother and Sulochana has nothing to do.
- Why introduce Mandar with no personality? Why couldn't he be a charming, honourable man who has a chance to win Pallavi? Mandar's more concerned with baiting Raghav than with reminding Pallavi of their premarital friendship and plans for the future.
Sharada had been spared so far; my impression was that Sharada was her own woman, who could ignore Raghav's bad manners so that Pallavi could try to be happy with him, and still care for Vijay, Mandar etc. Come on, writers! You have a whole cast of characters, not just a lead couple to feature!
