Yes, he didnt go to college and wasn’t too mindful of hygiene earlier. He didn’t dress perfectly as per society standards. But that was about it. Sometimes he would say things in a very blunt way but I always thought Shiva was always shown to be well spoken when necessary. For him it was always a choice to be who he is. He chose to not be like Dev or Gaumbi but has the tools and resources to showcase that side, should he choose to. I remember us saying that’s the biggest difference between him and Kathir.

The insecurity track could have been much better written. I feel like the writers are trying to make him more like the OG character. But it doesn’t make sense. When you grow up in a house where individuals like Dhara, Gaumbi, etc… it already puts you in a different league. Not to mention, Shiva was always very intelligent. I understand him feeling insecure when it comes to Raavi but the others laughing at him made no sense to me. Shiva always seemed like the guy who could fit in if he wanted to but it was his choice to not give importance to such things. His insecurity could have revolved around Raavi. But by emphasizing on the wrong ideas, they are changing Shiva’s character. Watch them randomly say he was forced to quit school.

I don’t know if what I said makes sense. But I still don’t understand why these friends were acting the way they were. It was so OTT. Them sensing something is wrong would have been fine. Even Sneha’s comment I can understand because she knows Shiva and Raavi has spoken about him that way. She was wrong but this is just plain bad writing. Did anyone else feel this way 😆

Me. I feel exactly the same way. This is plain bad writing. It is as if they have themselves forgotten the characters they wrote. Or halfway through the story they went that let's get the OG when the groundwork is different from the OG.

It maybe channels pressure but kind of offputting. The characters that we connected to and the present characters are different 🤷‍♀️

You know a lot of us have been asking… why are Raavi’s friends so mean and shallow? Does she not have friends who are solid individuals?

So my bestie and I had quite a journey. It took us many many years to grow into who we are today. We had lots of fights, realizations and growth. Over the years, we always made sure to be there for one another but also help each other grow, even if it means saying something the other person does not want to hear. Of course, over time we have learned how to go about this in a healthier and more mature way. And on the flip side, how to listen and accept words of advice. We always point out red flags to each other, call each other on the other’s BS and offer the most honest advice we can. Truly, I’m proud of how far we have come.

Coming to Raavi… if any of her friends had been solid individuals who have her best interest in mind and want her to grow into a well rounded person - the first thing they would have pointed out is Dev. It was clear as day that she was so wrong about Dev’s feelings for her. Her fairytale world was far away from reality. A friend wouldn’t be harsh (knowing her insecurities and coping mechanism) but would slowly point out ways in which Raavi is misreading the situation. A true friend would never have let this get to the mandap unless it was truly impossible to help Raavi understand.

Another point would be Raavi’s lack of ambition and her not having a single goal aside from being a Pandya Bahu. I think the most healthiest push in my life came from my friends. We have guided each other through school, college, jobs, etc… there were points were I didn’t feel as ambitious but I had people who reminded me why all this was important to me. My friends have always reminded me of the importance of financial independence and of having something to look forward to in life… a new benchmark and goal to achieve. And vice versa… I have done the same for them.

If Raavi had genuine friends, her outlook towards life would be different. She would have grown and evolved over the years. Now that I think about it, it makes complete sense that her friends are the way they are. Yes, one shouldn’t be judged by their friends but the kind of people you attract does say something about you.

I guess that is why her ideal has been Dhara. Dhara did handle both the house and the store and helped get it out of debt. But Dhara was severely constrained by the family and could not do moreZ

I don't think Raavi fully grasps that. She wants to do exactly what Dhara has done in the past 10 years. But had the tables been switched- if Dhara had a supportive family, and she had the luxury of studying and working- she would have done so much more than run behind a boy 😐
